I vote that we know each other. The reason I say that is that we can jump over the "meeting" and right into "Hi, mysterious old man sitting in the only unlit corner of the otherwise well-lit tavern. Sure, we'll explore that dungeon for you!"

You're just saying that because you want to start the adventure with all of your starting gear.

Disclaimer: No, I wouldn't steal your stuff, but yes, it is fun to joke about.

@AD: 2 things to warn you about. 1) no, back stabbing with a balista will not be allowed and 2) I do nothing to prevent players from killing other players with just cause (like shanking thieves) XD (I mean this all in a completely joking way)

Well, I guess I have a couple hundred gold to re-allocate from ballista, then. Could I backstab with a rhino? (What about if I got a Magic User to cast silence on a Rhino, and I then piloted it into someone?)

lol I like the way you think it will get you far in my game, but no a rhino is not a weapon unless you pick it up just like you couldn't sneak attack with a warhorse.

Yeah, I don't think you could take warhorse proficiency until Pathfinder.

Oh, I thought that was for deciphering found spells. Or I guess that does that too.

65 or under good:

Affect Normal Fires 64
Burning Hands 44
Charm Person 83
Comprehend Languages 12
Dancing Lights 51
Enlarge 42
Erase 78
Feather Fall 25
Find Familiar 64
Friends 8
Hold Portal 82
Identify 40
Jump 92
Light 32
Magic Missile 76
Mending 74
Message 35
Nystul's Magic Aura 64
Protection from Evil 63
Push 79
Read Magic 26
Shield 55
Shocking Grasp 40
Sleep 85
Spider Climb 77
Tenser's Floating Disc 47
Unseen Servant 47
Ventriloquism 99
Write 66

So, 18 spells I qualify for, but I can only have a maximum of 11. Although I seem to have missed two, oh well. Hmm...

I will just take average HP per level.

Everyone in town knows whatshername, or at least that there's a nice half-elf cleric that gives out free healing. She's the sort of person that always smiles and waves at people so it seems like she knows everyone, but doesn't actually keep track of names or faces unless they're egregiously excessive in their actions or she literally talks to them every day.

Did you all know that in 1st ed. there is no such thing as a critical hit? (unless I'm over looking the rules for it...)

Alright, for those of you who have your characters done I will be writing an opening post, and for those who are Leadpal I will introduce you later to the plot. What I want to know is, what motivates your characters? Knowing this will help me in choosing the correct quest types for you all. Do you seek fame? Gold? Or is the adventure motivation enough to cause wanderlust?

Gulvin the Dunce is not very bright. However, the church needs money to function. Tithing does provide a lot of the money that the church needs to operate, but the individual clerics are usually sent out to find treasures and gold to bring back. They are allowed to keep a portion of that money, but the majority of the riches found are to be given to the church.

Whatshername (oh shit I need to think of a name) likes helping people. She gives out healing like candy and smacks bandits that threaten the town.
A nice hook would be for Gulvin to be from out of town and for them to be from the same church; she would jump on the chance to help a fellow cleric and smack things at the same time.

Gold, and the opportunity to ply his trade without feeling that strange negative emotion that bothers him when robbing innocent strangers are what motivate Aerius to adventure.

Captain Gavis - I'm unsure, based on that post, whether you're looking for us to post or if there is to be more from you.

Sorry picked a real slow starting one....you know these 1st ed mods they either start you AT the dungeon entrance or make you dig for the quest....but this new post should make it fairly certain why you are here

Zachol and Mercutio thank you for being active in this game and as a reward I would like to give you some bonus points (or experience that is) for your active...ness. Of course I will be cryptically keeping track of all xp behind my forbidden screen painted with the frolicking pink unicorns of DOOM!

I'm going to be slightly presumptuous, given that 3 of 4 people are okay with my joining, and start the process.

No whammies.........

15
14
11
10
10
15

Hmmmm.

I could well end up as an elven ftr/mu from that. Must consider options.

I will allow this since it has been a few days since my opening post and (despite confusing 1st ed quest digging) only 2 out of 4 players have made any posts a third active player would be enjoyable.

Edit: make that 3 out of 4 and a fourth active player would be good.
