"I appreciate your time Padre,
Just that I think you’d agree whoever’s responsible for this has to be made accountable, there’s enough misery as it is to add this kind of violence on top, if I come here and ask is because I’m trying to do something about it, and I realize you put up with this for the same reason,
Now the method of the crime was very particular, and as horrible as any murder is, I think this was particular in its gruesomeness and as so we have to get to the bottom of it and make sure we put a cap on this escalation
So, with this in mind, did you see anything out of the ordinary that night or the nights before?"

He sighs, resignedly. "No. The dead man was a gang member from the Latino gang SouthSide Locos. He normally wouldn't be in this neighborhood, this is El Rukn territory. The woman wasn't a gangbanger at all, I never saw her before. I heard she was an actress...I don't know if that means she was a high-class prostitute, or what. She sure wasn't from around here. I talked to the Els, they say they had nothing to do with it. In fact, they are concerned that the Locos will blame them for it, and they are laying low and keeping an eye out. And I don't know anything wierd that happened before or since...wierder than the whole situation itself."

"I also heard about the other killings on the news...something is going on. All of the ordinary folk are scared, the ones that live here in Georgetown. Black or white, or whatever, it doesn't matter. We had a prayer meeting here today, and we plan on having more, and everyone is looking out for each other. So, what is it that you plan to do that the cops and the neighborhood can't?"

“Well padre, I don’t have to tell you how much of a difference a determined man can make and well, even if I’m not, sometimes it takes a hipster to make the connections, you know, some cats either are just to focused on what they want to see they fail to see the action or just get stuck staring at their belly button, dig daddy-o? but, any way, what turned you on there’s something more going down?”

While he talks he brings out his note pad to cross out the names SSLocos/Els

[he’s go the Auspex on, the feeling of being watched made him a bit uncomfortable]

[After he finishes talking to the preacher he’ll head back to the silver shamrock for the wake celebrations and listen in trying to investigate what he can about the venture killing and the ice box, on his way back he looks for security cameras in the vicinity, one more question, the print he saw, did it looked like is was heading to the pub or to the playground?]

He stares at Dean in disbelief. "What turned me on? Eight or nine people get killed the same evening all within a half mile of my church, that's what. People are scared. There could be more killings any time. And if the po-lice had been doing their real jobs instead of running around protecting a million visitors and playing Jack Bauer with the Secret Service, maybe this wouldn't have happened. So if you want to look into that angle, God bless you sir."

The pattern of gouges, if it is a forward-facing pawprint of some kind, was pointed away from the building i.e., as if the creature had descended or jumped down from the building. It would seem to be away from the pub and toward the playground. However, that is not conclusive. Near the playground, the print points toward the pole holes, but it's far enough away that this is not indicative of anything.

There are no security cameras on the streets that he can see, except for a couple of automated teller machines (bank money machines) that do have small cameras that focus on the users as they step up.

Inside the Silver Shamrock, the party is only getting more racous as the hour grows later. It's very difficult to overhear anything with the amount of noise, What he can glean indicates the patrons don't know anything more than rumors from the news media. The only new thing is a rumor that Kellough and Circe were lovers, killed by some gay-hater or Circe's family or a jealous lover or...it's all pretty much speculation.

Dean settles in a quiet corner, he felt a lot better indoors the prospect of facing the author of the crimes did not excite him
Brings out his note book and draws a abstract schematic of the area with the points of interests and knowingly adds a vector pointing from the pub to the playground

He sends a text message to his assistants
“investigate names and addresses of users of “ATM1” and “ATM2” between 8:45 and 9:15 on date of interest”

Finishing the text and satisfied the lead of the cameras will be followed he gets back to his diagram, following the vector he notes the next closest crime scene after the play ground and makes plans to make that his next stop

Before leaving he goes downs stairs, even thought he does not expect to find much with the party going on he wanted to be thorough

Dean's retainers tell him that it will take some time to obtain camera footage from the banks, even if it is possible. At least a day, possibly more.

His diagram of the murders shows him a rough meandering line, from west to east along the C&O Canal - the defenestration near Cadys Alley, the hangings on Grace St, the impalements on Blues Alley, the Shamrock in Jefferson Northwest. That makes the next scene the murders at Swann's studio.

Michale will ask his patients, during the course of the night, if any of them saw anything, or heard anything about the recent deaths. He is particularly interested in whether anyone knew any of the victims, or know anyone who does. He will try to keep his questions conversational, and not interrogational.
If any of his patients know a friend or family member of any of the victims, he will suggest that they have them get in contact with him, for grief counseling, or any other help he can offer.

Dean sits focused on his diagram, although the bar is crowded he feels comfortable and his practiced mind allows him to concentrate and not be distracted by the crowd, the background noise calms him as the pattern becomes numb and he knows if something unexpected was to happened, the change in pattern would alert him.
[Notes:
Were the victims brought to the sites?
Were there other kindred in the vicinity?
Were the utensils used brought to the site? - duct tape, wire, rope etc. or were there available in the site]
With this in mind he prepares to leave putting away his notes but before he replies to his assistants text
“besides the footage, it is important to find if there were any users of the ATMS during the time period, look through transaction records for account numbers and cross reference them to client name and address “
With that he leaves for Swans studio, he will walk to the site, again taking note of any abnormalities; he’s specially looking for prints

Several of Michales's patients knew Shiela, and her pimp Rolly. One guy knows Swann, or claims he does. Did. One guy Michale is treating for HIV knew Raoul...he said he had dated him for a while. A little more inquiry confirms the fact that Raoul was gay. This doesn't necessarily clash with an apparently hertero relationship with the bloodsucker he died with...aftr all, lots of gay men have female friends. Still...Roul has a brother, Nicolas.

He learns that the male impaled was a gangbanger named Cristobal, one of the SouthSide Locos, but this isn't Loco territory. The woman impaled with him was a wannabee model/actress that hung out with a guy named Patrick James. James apparently had money and connections...maybe a drug dealer or high-class pimp. He was often seen in nightclubs around with an entourage of gorgeous young women.

Dean has to believe at least the playground victims were brought there or lured there -- these aren't two people that would be hanging out at that playground. The ones in the pub could have been done there but there was no evidence that he knows of and none of the rumors say that it was done on the premesis. The hangings were consistent with the victims being there "naturally," ditto for the decapitations, and the defenestration meant that Jean-Claude probably went to the kine's apartment to feed.

Routine requests for information from the Chantry reveal that there were no other kindred known to be nearby at the time of the deaths.

While he is hanging out in the pub, one of his retainers delivers a set of files on the murders, apparently obtained through Kindred channels. They have been copied and are very sketchy, but it's something. [these are copies of the same files that the Ventrue have.] He passes on the request for information about the account numbers used at the ATMs as well. This will take some time. There is also a note that there is a doctor Michale Herrington who witnessed the defenestration, or at least, its final result. The doctor is a do-gooder mortal mage, apparently independent of association with mage organizations. The chantry has tolerated him because he has benefitted Kindred society from time to time, provides a valuable service to kine in the area, and might be made use of at some time in the future. One also never knows what connections mages may have...so the inherently conservative Tremere have just kept an eye on him, but that's all. He runs a small free clinic on Cadys Alley.

It appears that all materials specifically related to the murders - duct tape, wire, etc - must have been brought to the sites, as there was nothing matching them remaining or apparently original to the sites.

Walking to Swann's studio on Grace Street, he searches for any prints or anything out of the ordinary. He can't shake the feeling he's being watched, from time to time. It seems to come and go.

He gets into the building without difficulty, but the door is sealed with police tape the same as the other crime scene.

Seeing the taped door, he steps back on to the streets and alleys where he clandestinely rips a small side view mirror from a vehicle and then looks for a shadowed area where he can concentrate, seeing his reflection on the mirror he focuses his will being cognative of his concience and nothing else he crushes the mirror [using incorporeal passage ritual]
Satisfied he advances to Swans studio where he’ll continue his investigation
[how far is cadys alley from where Dean is now?]

[The building is on that street]

Inside, the artist's studio is a mess. It's hard to tell what of this is natural and what was done by the police. Materials of all sorts are scattered about. It's difficult to tell what is art supplies, what is clutter, what is wreckage. Pieces of granite and marble could be breakage, or could be chipped off of sculpture. Likewise paint, rags, chemicals, pieces of furniture, and things that may be artwork but it's really, really hard to tell.

The location of the hangings in the center of the room is cleared, with evidences of the crime scene processing similar to the other location. There are holes where hooks must have been bolted. They look fresh, and as far as Dean can tell, were not drilled out. Rather, something, the hooks presumably, were screwed in to the heavy wooden beam, then removed the same way, as one would use a screw to drive itself into wood. Everything has been cleaned up and removed, though, in the crime scene processing.

He looks and eventually finds what he expects - a pattern of marks in one place on the wooden floor. There are only two "tracks" - and if the tracks represent the stride of an upright creature, then the creature must be large, perhaps 2.5m tall or more.

Michale will try to arrange a meeting with a member of the SouthSide Locos, to discuss the recent death of Cristobal. If any of them is willing to talk, he will introduce himself as looking to help avoid an escalation of trouble. He will proceed to ask whether they know if Cristobal had any connection to any of the other eight murder victims.

Dean slowly paces trough the room trying to relax, relying on his heightened sense of perception [uses auspex] tries to make sense if the scene, even in this apparent chaos, there is a certain order, a pattern, artistic minds fall in to them more often than not even if they try to deny it to themselves,
He takes a picture of the “tracks” making sure to have a frame of reference in the image
He’s particularly observant and hopeful to find a trace like the red hair he found in the last murder scene
Before leaving he summarizes a report and sends it back to the chantry.

[I am already taking auspex 1 into account, presuming he uses it at need since it's "free" of cost. However, it does not help him identify patterns better. In fact, it may be worse - like turning up the volume on everything at once - too much input]

Dean finds no red hair on the site that in any way matches what he has already, which is finer and composed of several short strands. He does find a long, reddish, probably woman's hair. Close examination reveals that it is probably dyed to a natural reddish color.

He finds no real pattern or order that is out of place in this setting. Also, the police obviously disturbed a lot of things, move furniture, went through drawers, etc.

It's fairly easy for Michale to arrange a meeting with the Locos. He has to travel a few blocks over to their turf. He is ushered into a loft over a warehouse. From outside it looks like nothing, but from inside, it's luxurious with a mishmash of furniture, faux and real furs, a wet bar, an eclectic but expensive suite of media including TVs, big speakers, the latest gagetry. Salsa music and video blares from the walls. There are some side rooms that seem to get traffic, too, some occupied. One is barred and locked from is side, begging the question of what they might have locked in the room.

The two young toughs that escorted him up back away when Michale is introduced to a muscled Latin adonis, marked with prison ink and wearing silk trousers, a silk vest, and lots of jewelry. His hair is oiled, slicked back, and his chin beard is razor-thin and meticulously maintained. Michale can tell he's a breather.

"I'm Carlos. You the doctor?" he asks from his sprawl on a sofa, his arm around a near-naked gang girl. He doesn't seem hostile, more curious than anything.

[Lab: = Chantry]
Dean takes a few minutes to try and process the scene, looking to fix the image in his mind, even if right now there seems to be no apparent pattern - maybe latter when other clues arise something may fall in to place, often the mind works on a problem at a subconscious level and its productive to give it all the tools.

Having checked the scene of Swann’s studio Dean decides to continue the few blocks to the doctor’s office, if he is not there when he arrives, Dean Leaves his name and number on a “post-it” with the additional note, “sifting through the ashes”.

He then proceeds to Jean-Claude’ heaven where if no easy access is available he’ll use the same ritual as before to enter the heaven, he’s thinking of heading back to the chantry after the stop at the haven anxious to analyze the red hair sample.

Michale nods to the man and says, “Yes, I am Dr. Michale Herrington. I appreciate your meeting with me on such short notice. I am here because I would like to help sort out what happened on Inauguration night. I understand that Cristobal was a member of the SouthSide Locos. I was hoping that you might be willing to accept my aid in determining who was responsible for his murder. In return I would of course keep you informed of any pertinent information, such as the identity of the killer, that I should uncover. As you may already know I am not connected with the police, I simply feel that there is a connection between these ten murders and I would like to avoid any...impulsive responses. What do you say, may I be of service?”

The Loco pulls out a pack of cigarrettes, offers one to Michale. "So you wanna help find out who did Cristo...for what? And what you want from the Locos?" He lights his up with a gold lighter, takes a long drag, holds the burning stick negligently over the arm of the sofa.

Dean leaves the information with Doctor Harrington's...well, you'd say "bouncer" if it was a bar. Unofficial security guard. "The doc should be back in an hour or two," the man tells him.

Dean finds the crumbling Gothic mansion that Jean-Claude occupied, about a half mile away near 34th and P. It's surrounded by a 12-foot fence topped with sharpened spikes, a reasonable deterrent to mortals. However, a side gate is unlocked, and he enters without difficulty.

Inside the fence, the grounds are overgrown and ill-kept, as is the outside of the house. There is no need to use magick, however, as the front door is also unlocked. As he passes inside the portal, he feels a magickal ward of some kind tripped. Perhaps an alarm or detection spell.

The inside of the house is filled with clutter, works of art or craft, antiques, rugs, the detritus of an unstable collector of beauty.

When the Cigarette is offered, “No thanks, don't smoke. I would like to avoid any unnecessary altercations. I understand that he was not in Loco territory when he was found, I assume it was someone else's territory. And like I said, I have a feeling that these deaths are connected.
What I want is simply cooperation. Any information that might help me discover the perpetrator, or motive, for his murder. Possibly a little help with the leg work, talking to his friends, family, etc.”

"What, man, you some kinda do-gooder? Okay..." he waves the cigarrette in the air, whatever. "I heard about you. You use a lotta big words, but you all right. So what you wanna do? Spe-ci-fically? You need some muscle? Like you said, we don' wanna start no shit with the Els, and you in El territory. Barely."

“No, not muscle. Just a little help asking Cristobal's friends and family if they know if any one might have had a reason for killing him. If the locos can give me the names of any of his acquaintances, friends, family, etc, it would help me.”

Dean looks trough the house, specifically looking for any kind of log book, diary, agenda or anithing that can tell him what Jean-Claude was working or interested in the past few weeks, any apointments or notes of interest,
Also if possible he investigates what king of magical wards he had in place, quite posibly this was the reason why he was lured out of the mansion instead of being attacked in it
Once satisfied, he heads for the chantry to have the red heair analized as well as any samples or interest he might have found in Jean-Claudes mansion
in the chantry he will ask Rose if Jean-Claude had contracted the chantries services to prepare the ward of his mansion or if he is aware of any training Jean-Claude might have had on thaumaturgy

The young tough rolls the cigarrette around in his fingers like a stage magician, then sucks in a long drag. "We his family, yo. Cristobal, he dint have no mother, perro. He Brujo genuino, bro. You wanna talk to the Brujachos? I can arrange that, if you got the cojones."
