Looks like someone cosplaying as Han Solo, probably the point.

I was looking for a semi-nerdy girl with blue hair, this is all I could really come up with, it's not that far off from what I had envisioned.

That's actually my photoshopping the head of Timothy Olyphant (here playing Seth Bullock from Deadwood) onto Han Solo's body.

Herp a derp.

Looking for a picture but it's actually kind of hard to find anything.
My big sack of portraits is focused more on women or particularly strange other guys.

Yeah like digitally. Somewhere around 2,000 at the moment.
Half of that is fantasy, though.

Man what's creepy about that.
Characters need pictures.

Edit: Some of these are just hilarious.

I just look for them out on the interwebs. I don't actually store them. *shrug* Maybe its more common than I thought. I was just picturing the weird hunchback that I visualize you as hunched over his file cabinet cackling as he says, "Ohhhh, I have just the picture for that. Yes, I do." <insert sound that herbert the pervert from family guy makes as you thumb through your file cabinet>
Sorry... letting that imagination get away with me again.

Some of them are from torrents from other people's collections.
Also it still takes me way too long to find anything in here.

But yeah that image is sadly accurate.
Except I never actually find that perfect image and always end up spending hours on the internet looking for one anyway.

I really want to know who drew it and why.

I think it's parody.

Edit: Ahahah.

Ok, Character Creation info and a template to follow are up. There is likely a few things which you will wonder "how does that fit into the mechanics of the game?" I'll be getting into that over the next couple of days as I post up more rules and such.

*Edit*
Also, I know you are all probably thinking that the character sheet is way simple and you want to add more detail than that. Well, the simplicity of it all helps to kind of hit the high points of the character. If you would like to go into more detail regarding a connection, nemesis, personal set, etc. feel free to make a thread about that topic in the Datavault section.

Buhh ok.

I'm staring at this sheet and I realize that all I'm writing up is Spike from Cowboy Bebop. It's ridiculous.

Buahaha! Little z... oh gosh, one day I will require a pic of you as I just have no idea how to imagine what exactly you are. My brain has always been lost on that one.

Rawrster: Did I do it right?
I know I got some extra stuff in there but from my experience with this gang we kinda like to add some pizzaz and a picture to help with the collective immaniary experience. If you want I can move the last part, or you can do it even if you'd like.

I have some ideas for the datavault but want to think about them more before I decide whether to post them or not. I might wait for someone else to post one first so I have a sort of template to work off.

I found it odd that I am playing the only non-human in this genre...

Well I at least was going more for "Firefly low scifi no aliens," initially.

Anyway I'm sort of thinking this for Cale.

Not sure who the girl is. Maybe my Contact?

Question: Will we be flying from one end of the galaxy to another? Or will our adventures be more localized? I'm toying with the idea of having one my contacts own a stationary business, but would that severely limit how often we'd be in contact with each other?

I was assuming we'd going to stick in the solar system.
"The" being this one, or a one, and that all the action stays within one.

A planet with its moons is like a "city," and there're four or five "cities" that the action sticks to.
Going to a different solar system (if that's even a possibility) would be like going to a different continent during the late 1800's. A really big deal.

I am pro travel outside of the galaxy. Also, I'm not sure how you can do a Noir Star Wars Cthulhu Firefly CSI Cowboy Bebop thing and not have aliens. I mean, to me it seems like a lot of this game is going to run off the "hey, there is weird shit out there" feel. I mean thats what a lot of those genres work offa. The logic follows that if there is weird shit out there then there is likely some weird shit all up in here too (in the party).

I mean, what kinda space drama would we be doing if there isn't any space travel in it? Thats just my opinion, anyway. ...am I playing something too weird for the genre/setting/party?

edit: Merc, your character reminds me of Col. Roy Mustang from Full Metal Alchemist.

Well, Firefly had no aliens, but I like the idea of aliens, and your character seems fine to me. But then I still remember that we also said Dresden Files/Supernatural.

Galaxies are huge, Lune. Star Wars only takes place within one galaxy. Intergalactic transportation involves years, even at hyperspeed. Staying within a galaxy limits very little as far as story and is far more believable as far as science.

Just my two cents (having written a few scifi stories and doing all sorts of math to verify distances).

I've only watched an episode or two of FMA, and I think I need to start at the beginning. The premise was interesting, but I just need a better plan to watch it.

I think galaxy wide transportation is big enough. As Merc said, the entire Star Wars universe is set in one galaxy and there is plenty of diversity and weirdness there. But I'd like for our characters to be able to have some familar hang outs or locations off ship, so maybe we generally stick to a specific region in our galaxy? I'm thinking something similar to the "Outer Rim" in Star Wars. Systems on the fringe of the galaxy, outside the galaxy wide government. Sort of a lawless old west feel in a space age setting.

That's exactly what I was thinking PC (Psychoclown is simply too long).

EDIT - That katana rifle is awesome. Keep that in mind if you want play something like that in XCrawl.

Lune, I have a large repository of images too. I had once made an attempt to use a database and sort them all, but stopped. Now I just scroll through them and try to find something. For instance, this guy below is sort of what I envision for "Butcher" minus the shield.

EDIT 2: Apparently I really need to play Red Dead Redemption. This guys is almost exactly what I am picturing in my head.

Interesting thought about firefly: for a setting that's supposedly half chinese, there sure aren't very many chinese people in the show, are there? (none actually).

One galaxy I think is the limit, the Mass Effect RPG I'm writing is set in the Milky Way, and has only a tiny amount of the galaxy explored. I'm already writing up over 100 fully fleshed out star systems, that's hundreds of planets, and many alien species. Throw in another galaxy, and you've got trouble.

There are what, 2-4 hundred billion stars in our galaxy?
