To which I counter:

“ Aleina recognizes that Stephen's home and shop is close by. ”
Stephen's the healer, right?

edit: Except that, hah, no, now I check, he is deliberatly and intentionally not the healer, is he. Hah.

So, either Cad allows some gross coincidence, or Lyr goes back to moping

If he wants to leave the festival and wander then there's a chance he'll cross their paths. It would be mighty hard for Lyr to notice anything external amidst the swirling chaos.

Now if Feyd and Aleina want to stop by and check out what all this hooplah is for, then that changes things.

Unless, dejected and lonely, he wanders from the scene of Dun's irreverant womanizing, nursing his angst in the shadows quite a ways from the festivities and, incidentally, nearby the herbalist's shop.

Bleh...

I just took an exam and didn't do so well. I'll try an post in a bit, but for the moment I'm busy cursing my own stupidity and the difficulty of the exam.

The colloquium had nothing to do with the test (thank God). The test was on mathematical physics. Mostly solutions to partial differential equations in three or four dimensions. The colloquium was on... well, I can't really explain what it was on, it was mostly over my head (which is why I slept through most of it).

Never a good idea, although sometimes it can't be helped. Classes that start before noon or right after lunch have a way of being slept through. Or, at least they did for me.

In a class with 8 students there is no sleeping, regardless of when it starts.

One of my statistics courses had stadium seating, and was none too full. It was right after lunch, and I routinely fell asleep in full view of the prof. Falling asleep in a classroom of only eight would definitely be way more embarassing, but I'm sure I could do it .

I fell asleep standing up at a frat party once - the press of bodies in that little basement held me up. I missed about 80% of one of my business law courses (I think it was an 11:00am class) simply because I would somehow manage to turn my alarm off without ever waking up.

This class is held in a conference room. Very comfortable chairs, which should make it easier to fall asleep, but with the prof less than 5 ft away for most of the class it would be incredibly bad form to do so.

Differential equations? Three dimensions? My son, you should've gone with English like me. We only have TWO dimensions to worry about!

Strangely enough now that I'm moving into graduate work I'm finding my fellow students to be far more relaxed and determined to help. This is a welcome change when compared to the elitism and intellectual snobbery I encountered at the undergraduate level.

And yes, I've fallen asleep in class. Hell, I used to have this comp-sci class, right after lunch, where I would come and it would be an epic battle between me and the Sandman. Sometimes I swear the prof would just watch me as he lectures as I strained to keep my eyes open and my head off the table.

I'm sure he took it as a compliment.

Oh, admit it, you thrive on the elitism and intellectual snobbery. You're just happy that the other clowns have stopped so you can feel even more elite and intellectual.

So, is Lyr going to be able to accost Aleina before she makes it to the herbalist? You never did say.

It's so true they even made a poster about me.

I'm still waiting on a yay or nay from Dirigible about Lyr's actions and whether he would find it feasible for the young spellsoul to leave the party and when (as it will affect when/if he comes across Aleina).

Sheesh, can't you all just get together in a tavern like all the other adventurers do?

In this setting, getting a halfling and a dwarf into a tavern would be one hell of a difficult thing to pull off.

Any way, I finally got my act together and posted. Turns out everyone in the class thought the test was really hard so I don't feel quite so bad anymore.

Just to be doubly clear, by swinging wide, Heulwen is trying eliminate the silouetting of the light behind Strafford. While she can't totally eliminate it (as that would require comming at him from town), she should be able to reduce the effect somewhat.

Mad sl33p1ng skillz there, Gral.

“ Unless, dejected and lonely, he wanders from the scene of Dun's irreverant womanizing, nursing his angst in the shadows quite a ways from the festivities and, incidentally, nearby the herbalist's shop. ”
And you have a way with words. Like Stalin had a way with huge piles of dead kulaks.

Pardon me for living in your tommorrow !

I edited my post to include a little deus ex magica... if that doesn't work for you, Cad, we can say he goes wandering off looking for the Mayor or the Sheriff.

Damn. Really, man, if you cannot get what you want, you do not have to switch teams. All or nothing, just for one girl? Come on, be reasonable!

Yes, it's a gift. There is a long and diverse list of things that I've slept through, including a sonic boom and the explosion of a dynamite plant in the neighboring town (the force of which was sufficient to shake the houses in our neighborhood).

Unless Lyr's going to be actively leaving the festival, I'd prefer that this freaky spellsoul-channeler relationship get played down a bit. I like the idea, and I love it as a roleplaying quirk, but as a homing device? No, not a fan of that.

If he does wish to leave, which is more than reasonable given his demeanor, I'll see what I can do about him running into Aleina.

Que?

Yeah, I thought about that myself. I'll see what I can do.

So, a, a fighter, a cleric, a wizard and a rogue walk into a tavern... and the barman says "What is this, an adventure hook?"

"Its not an adventure hook until the barfight starts," replies the wizard.

"But I just had the tables replaced!" exclaims the barman in an exasperated voice, "Can't you find some other than a bar fight to create character bonds?"

"Well, the town could be attacked by goblin raiders," replies the fighter.

"Or, you could tell us about a rumor of a long lost religious artifact," adds the cleric.

"Or, one of your other patrons might offer us all a job," chimes in the rogue.

"Well, the goblin raid was fought off last week, the long lost religious artifact turned out to be nothing more than a scroll of raise dead that had to be used on one of the adventurers who found it, and most of my patrons come here to drink, not hire mercenaries," the barman explains.

"Hmm... Then it seems the barfight is the only avaliable adventure hook..." says the wizard thought fully.

"BAR FIGHT!" shouts the fighter, up ending a table.

...

Well, you can guess the rest of the story.

I'm sure he'll be along shortly. If not, Feyd could always run into something that would slow him down...what it is, I'll leave up to your imagination.
