Preface: The world as you knew it
For the sake of simplicity the world you lived in was always generaly refered to as "The Land". It was a world of true peace, not the hippy flowers crap, but a world where all manners of life lived in a balance of life and death. The predator killed out of natural neccesity and function of natural selection. For millenia the denizens of The Land lived this way, there was war but most of those were limmited to skirmishes between clans over territory or food supply. That was the way of life...untill today.
