Now, on with the show:

This morning started off normal enough, you suppose, for it was the beginning of the Kagus-fer, the great fire ceremony. Kagus-fer is an opportunity for all sorts of tinkers, merchants, engineers, and alchemists to celebrate the great Kagu, god of fire. Today is a day is the day that you love the most as it is celebration of all things fiery and explosive. you find yourself in your laboratory putting the finishing touches on your latest experiment in explosive power and subsequently your latest offering to Kagu when you hear a great commotion from outside your cave.

Jaa-ak turns from his growing fire tree. Times must have sped up again he thinks to himself, the celebrations have begun without me. Putting together his stuff he tucks the fire tree under one arm and is delighted to find that hit hurts tremmendously, that means its working. Opening the plain hanging that acts as a door to his lab he steps out into the world.

As Jaa-ak pushes aside the door hanging the sun streams in, temporarily blinding him from the drastic change in brightness. When his vision clears he is surprised to find the sun well above the horizon and nearing it's zenith, as he scans the horizon he sees an odd looking black cloud far into the distance, it would be a shame if it were to rain on this festival. As Jaa-ak moves his eyes down into the fire river valley two levels down he notices another odd sight, a fairly large humanoid has entered town pulling an even larger covered cart.

Jaa-ak place his offering on a table with other offerings for the moutain. If this large creature was from out of town then he must surely have important componets that Jaa-ak could use for his inventions. Jaa-ak makes his way thru the celebrants to the large creature.

"Greetings!" he calls to him.

Sadly, despite all his waving and hollering Jaa-ak was unable to obtain the attention of the strange merchant due to the throng of other goblins around him. In the mean time the deep rhythmic boom of the ceremonial drums begins and all turn their attention to a procession of shamans. The Shaman procession signals the beginning of the ascent up the Kagus-Ra river basin to the peak of the Kagus-vor where all the offerings will be sacrificed into the mouth of the raging inferno.
