I have a permanent job now, offer signed and faxed and all. I start on 2/15. My last day at the temp job will be 2/10. The permanent job is not quite up to the pay I was getting at Hilti, but it's close. I'll be supervising 4 people, so I'll be able to add management to my resume. I hope it goes well!

LB asked me to let everyone know it might be next week before he can properly get on here and post. His work is exploding, but should be repaired by then.

In working on my post, I stumbled upon an option that left me with the following question;

The rules for the bardic special ability Suggestion say that the bard must first Fascinate the target. It refers heavily to the bardic special ability to fascinate, but does that mean that one can't cast Hypnotism to fascinate a target, then use the Suggestion ability?

The reason I ask is, the Fascinate ability can not be used in combat, while the Hypnotism spell (although at an advantage to the opponent) can be cast in combat. Even though the Suggestion spell can be cast in combat like the Hypnotism spell, the Suggestion ability can not be used in combat, but only because the Fascinate ability can not, and not because of any issues with the Suggestion ability itself.

So does this work around, if possible to begin with, unbalance the ability? Was the combat drawback put in purposely to not over power the ability?

That is correct. If you successfully use the Hypnotism spell, you may use the Suggestion ability.

For what it's worth, I don't think it overpowers the ability. On the other hand, I don't have a good sense for the power of the Fascinate or Suggestion bardic abilities, because they are so rarely used in the games I play in. The errata or Sage Advice said that targets know when they have succeeded on a Will save and they have a general idea of what caused them to make the save, though no special insight on what the save was for.

So a bard who tries to use this ability in the context of a group will see at least some of the targets make their save, who will then be alarmed or at least annoyed that the bard tried to use an unknown magical effect on them. I suppose some elaborate ruses could be used, like bluffing the people first to convince them you're going to use a magical song to make them [insert good effect here, like Bless] and then pull a switcheroo, but you still have the issue that if enough dice rolls are made, then one or more of them will beat you.

Anyway, our groups haven't been able to work out a good way to use this except in a private setting and even then, if you wait to see if the target made their save or not, and they did, then you've given up the element of surprise. And usually if you can get your target alone, then you've won already and there's no need to do the song and dance routine.

Anything that makes the bardic abilities of Fascinate and Suggestion useful in a game is something I'd buy.

Dal, the werebat will be able to automatically resist the spell because your suggestion is to do a harmful act - it doesn't specify against one's self, just a harmful act. Feel free to change your action, please.

LG pointed out something very important that I am sorry that I missed. I did not see a specific word that Kirfah had said - "Juren" - that changes the scope of what would happen. I'm going to remove my last post. I'll keep the names together for ease of use later, but forget about the post - it isn't what would happen if Juren is in the picture. It's no big deal. Let's get back on track. Sorry!

To be honest Brit was not intending to take her anywhere but wait for someone more neutral than everyone in Last Breath. I'll go ahead and make a post.

Logistically speaking, it may be appropriate for Zora to send a messenger to Juren, and then have a third party be transported up (via tree stride or something similar). You certainly have enough contacts.

I understand that a court made up here might be a bit kangaroo-y.

Yeah, I was thinking of what Breena would say. "Kill her" came to mind.
