The Sheriff (Rules/Character Creation)

This is the forum for my posting on rules and character creation guidelines for this game.

First off, this game is a d20 Wild West RPG using the OGL Wild West rules by
Mongoose Publishing.

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com

Additionally, I will be making use of additional d20 materials published by Green Ronin/Dog House Rules

Sidewinder: Recoiled

http://greenronin.com/catalog/grr1408

http://www.doghouserules.net/

This setting is a mixture of the setting from Sidewinder: Recoiled, historical fact and lots of fiction.

Also using some more additional guns and information provided by Gold Rush Games in their PDF book.

Gunslingers: Wild West Action!

Character Creation

1. 4d6, take highest 3, assign as you like.
2. Use OGL Wild West rules.
3. Where OGL Wild West lacks or if desired, you may use Feats/Gear and
some additional information from the other sources mentioned.
4. Have your pc verified by myself via email. I'd like a pc sheet that is
readable and has a background story.
5. Post your completed pc on the Character subforum.

Maps/Rules

Welcome to the game. I am your Judge, Jury and Sherriff.....

There are some useful and free pdf downloads that might be of interest to the party.

The maps for "The Flat", the town near Fort Griffin and the surrounding area are available on the Dog House Rules website under "Snakebites".

The region map is from a later period, but it's useful enough for the general vicinity and all.

Also the free first issue of the Echo pdf might interest some. It has some feats at the end that I'll be making use of....being a Clint Eastwood fan...there is a man with no name here in the town..... part of my story.

I'll be mixing elements from my favorite fiction and from John Wayne/Clint Eastwood westerns, along with some historical and game material.

As for the weight of the guns, that is still something I'm pondering on a good resolution for, but the 1 lb per pistol, 3-4 lbs per rifle seems to work for the time being. Most didn't carry rifles around except on their mounts (with a few exceptions), so its not a big deal wise unless you wish to haul like a gatling gun or something insane.

Any questions feel free to ask them in the OOC forum.

Additional Rules

After reviewing/comparing OGL WW and Sidewinder, they're pretty simliar in a lot of aspects. I'll be using most of the material from Sidewinder: Recoiled, especially the info on Gambling, Masterwork weapons, some of the feats which aren't in OGL Wild West and the source material for Fort Griffon/The Flat.

Also the language skill rather than a language feat is being used for anyone who wants to buy languages in skill pts.
