5th Edition / Next - Whatever you want to call it to release in summer 2014

In a shocking surprise to absolutely no one who happens to have the ability to think, Wizards of the Coast have announced that the new rules set will release this upcoming summer.

You sure you want to get into a Summer Off with Australia? Summer was born here!

On topic, this is the first time a new edition of DnD is coming out when I'm actually in a financial position to maybe be able to afford them. Depending on how over priced they are in Australia.

Players will be immersed in rich storytelling experiences across multiple gaming platforms as they face off against the most fearsome monster of all time.
Er, "multiple gaming platforms"? Did I miss something these past two years? And I really hope there is more than one monster - because I'm thinking that nobody is going to make it to level 2 if their first encounter is always the most fearsome monster of all time.

There's much discussion about both of those points at ENWorld. I haven't been following them at all (or ENWorld in general - too busy teaching myself sleight of hand and other magic). I probably will get the new edition of D&D as I liked a lot of what I saw with the playtests, but I don't know.
