Random Thoughts and Scrabblings (OOC/Visitor Thread)

Hey, Everybody!

To the Players, use this thread to converse, ask questions, or make smart-ass comments about each other out in the open air.

To the lurkers, feel free to leave comments and such as you see fit.

Soon, we shall get started - I'm pretty much finished with the Stronghold at this point, and we're all but ready to go!

Okay, first Thing.

Whenever you get a chance, please put a text-based character sheet in the appropriate subforum. Feel free to use the Following Format:

Character Name:

Strength: Intelligence:
Dexterity: Perception:
Constitution: Willpower:

Life Points:
Endurance Points:
Speed:
Essence Pool:

Qualities:

Drawbacks:

Skills:

Background: (A short public knowledge background, of the sort people might have learned from you within a year. Obviously, if you have a Secret, you needn't share it here. But fleshing out the other qualities and drawbacks is a good idea.)

Thanks - I'm immediately starting work on the first post, now.

First off, we've some bad news, folks. Francis won't be joining us, after all. (S)he is having some medical issues they feel will be lessened if (s)he spends less time at the computer, so we'll have to make do with Jack Frost as an NPC - at least for the time being.

On another note, we've good news in that another person has shown interest in the game, and will hopefully be joining your band of survivors shortly.

Whoever wants to go outside, really? Also, anyone else who wants to do something. I'm not picky - I know what all the NPCs are doing, but I figured I'd wait for someone else to volunteer to go out before I sent Jack Frost along for the trip.

What is our stronghold's relationship with the other communities? Do they know we exist?

Ayaka's not headed outside unless it's foraging for something to help with the Greenhouse or is of critical importance to the stronghold.

They know we exist, but as we, for various reasons, have refused to be under their autonomy, are friendly but only barely so. Also - who knows what they'll find when they go outside. Plus, it could always save you a lecture on religion!

Ayaka knows she's no fighter. If she has to choose between Poul's diatribe or the claws of a zombie horde, she will let the priest have at her. Just another reason for the lock on the greenhouse doors.

So is there an functioning economy or imfrastructure in the city itself or is everyone in survival mode?

Also, I looked at down town this am. It's *really* well set up for zombie defense in a short to mid range. Eventually you might get so many bodies you can just walk to the roof on them, but it would be years.

It's like I've thought about that, or something

There's a major trading post - look in the Information section, there's a little information there you'll probably find useful.

I'm going to be out of town and away from my computer, so I won't be able to view or respond to posts for the next 72 hours.

It seems to be alright, AoM - Rich seems prone to NOT telling us what he's up to in the combat round at this point. Whenever you get a shot, feel free to make a post detailing what you're up to while everyone who went outside is up to the current encounter, so you can get some experience, as well - whether that's bothering the doctor, pestering Padre, or just burying your face in the dirt and relaxing!

I'm assuming that the firing of a rifle down the road would be audible. If I'm wrong and they are supposed to be well out of earshot, then I'll edit my post. I figure that for story purposes I should find excuses to get out of the greenhouse.

That post is fine, - we'll attribute you hearing it to the glass of your greenhouse (though it's bulletproof). You would know it's unlikely the doctor in her lab or the preacher in the library heard it, however.

Sorry it's taking me so long to post, but I need to look up the Unisystem's treatment of grenades, and haven't been feeling the best. Tonight, or tomorrow night, at the latest.

He vomited on the way to work yesterday!

Was that too much information?

Also, grenade rules:

Blows.

Shit.

Up.

Offensive grenades (I assume these are) - thrown + str test. Over three successes puts the target in contact at ground zero. Three at ground zero. Two is General Effect. One is Maximum Range. Ground Zero is 1 yard radius. General is 3 yard radius. Maximum is 5 yard radius. Ground zero is d6x8 (24) damage. General Effect is d6x6 (18) and maximum is d6x2 (6).

So figure where it lands, figure each zombie's range, and apply damage as appropriate.

I'm having trouble following the combat sequence as I wait for the story to continue... is there some other forum thread that's being used for combat or is it all going on in PM's or what?

How and when did Jon get his ankle torn out and die?

In short, He's someone I know personally, and has repeatedly presented himself as too busy to post, and whom doesn't even check the board without being reminded repeatedly.

Don't worry about Jon. Drive on from here.
