View Full Version : GMs needed for D&D / Cyberpunk

Would any relatively experienced GM be interested in running a game of D&D or Cyberpunk on a separate website? We have a community of 12 players here, for whom I've been leading a fantasy PBP-game on a password-protected Avidgamers-website for the past year or so. The site looks pretty much like what you have in here; just more images and some JavaScript stuff. I take care of the technical stuff, so you just concentrate on running the game. If you would be willing to run Cyberpunk, you can also bring along some of your old players since not all are joining.
A word of warning though: our players are extremely active. It's common to notice from the access logs that everybody has visited the game site during the same day at least once. So the game master must also be pretty active. Our players range from 18 to 25 years of age, so this is to be a mature, storytelling-type game. We don't use much rules, eventhough we have character sheets.
We could run several games on the same site actually, located in the same island. Each group would need its own GM of course. Then the groups could meet, or just hear about each other's actions elsewhere in the game world. Might be interesting...
Contact me if interested, so that I can give you visitor access.

See the home-icon in my post; you need to apply for passes at the site though.

For simplicity sake, I looked it up.

And yes, it appears as if you need to be a member before you gain access to their forums. [sarcasm on] Great idea for gathering traffic and new users. [sarcasm off]

Hehe... we've never actually needed to gather new members because there was just one GM; there have always been above maximum number of players. Most of the people in the community already knew each other from the past, from another, non-RPG game, so login seemed more like a bonus than a defect. :)

Hmm, why didn't I think of this before... I created an account which everyone in here can use to visit the site:
Username: Visitor
Password: 4jxzwibs
You can also use site mail to contact me once you're there.

Please check your mail box; I saw your application and accepted it, which means that an e-mail should have been sent to you. If you didn't receive anything, please contact me as soon as you can; the mail mechanism is known to have been broken at times.

Heh, basic D&D, who would have thought that people still played with Dwarf and Elf as a racial class anymore? :)

Well, I'd say we could mind as well go for just one character class because people roleplay their personalities anyway; we have all sorts of mixin-classes in there, custom-tailored... and I pretty much let people decide what their character is like as long as they're happy with it. For example, we recently incorporated a mixture of a halfling, bard and magic user.

Jade, we had a discussiong going, very recently, about Cyberpunk games, do you know of good d20 cyberpunk RPGs by any chance?
Or ones with a fairly simple rule system anyway?

I was actually planning to run one; if we get GM's for the fantasy game, I'm free to start the cyber-game. 3-4 of our people have already signed up, but I suspect we could accommodate 6-8 people in there for one GM (and not many more of our own actives will be joining, I guess). So at least feel free to visit the cyberpunk game site I'm currently building:
http://www.avidgamers.com/cyberpunk (http://www.avidgamers.com/cyberpunk/)
Use the passes guest/guest to get in.
There is also a community of public message board players in the cyberpunk.co.uk - site; check forums here:
http://www.cyberpunk.co.uk
These games seem to be running slower than our games (most players appear to have been shopping much of the game time), and are also heavy on the rules since players have background in the game (whereas I run storytelling-style). Nevertheless, there are some very good game masters and players in there.

Thanks! It's still very much under construction though. :)
I would certainly prefer to move into cyberpunk myself, so this game will start if we manage to get a D&D GM (or two?) to run the fantasy game. I would of course still hang around to take care of the technical stuff. Please apply at the site (see the link below the login-box) so that I get your e-mail address in store. Will keep you notified about the situation through that.
