View Full Version : Gladiator Tournament II - Round 3: Spikey vs. Gork
Black Plauge

Well, we're down to just two undefeated gladiators and they have surprisingly similar fighting styles.
Well, while both love to tie their opponents in knots, they have very different ways of accomplishing it. Spikey favors the use of his own two hands, while Gork is more prone to use his manacles.
Either way, were liable to see a great deal of squirming out there.
Spikey and Gork, introduce yourselves to the crowd.
Spikey:
Crowd Attitude: 14 (Liked, +2 attacks & damage)
HP: 135
Gork:
Crowd Attitude: 5.875
Spells: -/2/1
HP: 139
Gus:

Spikey and Gork have 24 hours to post their round 1 action. This action is supposed to be for showmanship.

Gork proudly enters the arena once again with an enormous Ape at his side. In an attempt to draw attention to Gus, his new companion, he has left the earthen dyes and paints used in the bonding ceremony on his skin as well as on Gus's, the bright earthtone colors standing out in stark patterns on both of their bodies. Gork calls out to the croud and to Spikey in a loud clear voice,
"We have discussed this match since the grand melee! I'm glad to now have the opportunity to wrestle a worthy opponent!"
Gus and Gork act simultaneously, moving toward each other, leaping into the air, and performing a martial Haka.
ooc:
Whichever of Gus or Gork is higher in initiative delays to act simultaneously with the other.
Free action to order Gus to "Come."
Gus to o/p-28/29
Move action to push Gus to "Perform." Handle Animal [roll0]
Standard action to perform weapon drill [roll1] (or +24 if Gus's performance is successful)
edit: in hand is Gork's mancatcher.

As usual, Spikey does not speak but instead bows to his opponent to show his acknowledgement. He then bows to the nearbye spectators and raises his arms in greeting to the others shortly before setting his mind to the task before him.
The next moment he is speeding through the arena and plunges upwards in a huge leap, up and far... coming down on the arena ground with a soft 'thud', Spikey then turns to face his opponent.
[Spikey moves to P9, hops to P11, gets a running start to P15 and then jumps to impress (+50) through the arena in a mighty leap to end up in O21. Ready action sent to BP.

Glancing to the ape shortly, then back at Gork, Spikey goes to meet the challenge. Flipping and jumping across the arena, he cartwheels shortly on the side of a crate and ends his move not far from Gork with a mighty jump... and turning into something huge all of a sudden. Extending a hand towards Gork, he motions at the goliath to come to him.

"The bigger they are, the harder they fall!"
Gork continues his haka, chanting and grunting toward Gus, and then the martial dance flows into movement toward the spiker towering over him. As he draws in to range, Gork scoots through Spikey's legs and climbs up onto his back, trying to choke him from behind.

Spikey seemed ready to pummel the advancing Gork and seems surprised as he twists about and beneath his legs only to jump on his back. With a great heave, Spikey tries to throw the goliath off.
As he straightens all of a sudden, Gork looses his grip entirely and skids off Spikey's back and onto the floor... his grip... lost.

Spikey smiles down at Gork and shakes his head shortly. With a huge backwards flip he moves out of reach but immediately goes into a series of foot swipes that connect with Gork and flip him onto the ground. With the quickness of a snake’s tongue, Spikey’s hands and feet lash out and pummel the Goliath lying on the ground, targeting a pressure point on his chest.
With a sideways glance to the ape, Spikey abruptly stops his attacks and stands back, arms crossed in front of his chest for the moment.
[Manifest hustle defensively (auto-success), tumble to Q13/S11 at half speed to evade AoOs and impress and full attack unarmed with greater flurry going first for trip, then for stun (to deal non-lethal damage). Can Spikey possibly make up his mind? Every time Gork tries to grapple him he throws him off only to turn around and try the same thing on him.
It seems to have worked though. Spikey has won the match.
Yeah. I'm surprised at Gork though. He just had to wait a few more seconds and the rules would have required Spikey to shrink back to a more manageable size. He'd have had a much better chance of grappling with Spikey then.
He may still get that chance. This is only Gork's first loss and we're well into the tournament. If he can win his next match he'll get a rematch against Spikey.
