Oik, so it isn't quite on par with Curse of the Monday I (which I posted a while back on the 3ebb), still I'm not happy about it :)
I seem to post things like this a fair bit :)
So it's my driving test today
If I don't pass it's gonna be a real pain in the ass as I can't get another one booked while I'm still living at home. Instead I'll have to take up lessons again while i'm at uni
The real problem is I know the chance of a pass is tiny, still I'm kinda nervous and depressed about the whole thing.
So I'll post in four hours :) My test is at half three, it takes about 1/2 an hour to be tested (i think, but i'm having an emergency dribing lesson just before for an hour or so :)
Still i'm not as nervous as I was about my exam results
Mainly becuase failing means less, it doesn't screw my life up it just gives me a little bit extra to be doing later on. And although driving would be pretty cool it's not really essential, i've managed to get aout by train and the like for long enough another 6 months or so won't hurt :\

I could learn how to drive but I am far to lazy for that. Public transport will do for now.
Good luck by the way.

Heh
My parents kind of forced me to do it
Left on my own I would continue using my friends to taxi me about :)
Plus I dislike public transport, mainly becuase its utter crap in the UK :)

FOOLS, a driver's license is essential in a guy's life!
Not that I'm seeing any benefits other than my paycheck, but the feeling of just knowing you can always go everywhere with your dad's car, is a good feeling.
Take tomorrow for instance, gonna take the car and ... hrmm ... I shouldn't be telling you guys this :)

Hey I am still doing a happy dance I past mine, even after knocking over the road cone. Fortunatly parallel parking was not required in my state, IE you can knock stuff over and still pass. Where I live there is no publich transit, I liked living at home better, nice buses and elevated trains:-) But then again I had to live with my parents... ehh so it all balances out.

You would think this wouldn't you :)
They are already bugging me about it
Ah well,
It strikes me that I should have bribed my examiner, or got my licesne while I was in Mexico (as i'm gfairly sure you can transfer foreign licenses over to other countries, or that might have been a euopean thing)

My cousin had to take a driving test when she moved to London from the United States. It took her a while to get everything down since you still drive backwards over there. The end result is the US and Europe have their own standards which you're tested on. Maybe BRR should try to get his license down in France or Spain?

Sorry to hear that man, but look at it this way: At least you HAVE public transportation. In Worden It's either foot, or bike, and only bus if your in high school. Basically, I really need it. Be glad you don't have car insurance bills. And drink. Can't get in trouble for drinking and not driving ;).
Hell, Lorben failed his first test too (By driving with the friggin hood up!).

since you still drive backwards over there.
Yea... they drive backwards... just like France... Germany... Australia... Italy.. and all the rest of those European countries, oh not to mention China, Vietnam, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, and New Zealand. We're all backwards. :)
*cough* and who's still using imperial? */cough*

Hey, Rod, I failed first time... Don't worry about it. Just blame your lame driving instructor.
...works the second time, too.
...and the third.
...and the...

NO gas-bill
NO Insurance fees
NO traffic-jams
NO Time wasted , trying to find a parking-spot that , once you manage to find it , is located as far from your destiny as is your house.
NO fines for speeding , parking etc...
NO you contributing to the already serious environmental pollution.
NO repairbills for the bugger
NO anual check-up bills
NO fear of punks , tearing off its mirror(s) and/or antenna.
NO "Oops! I need to get to ***. Can you drive me?" when you actually planned on getting hammered.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.....

All that is easily countered with:
- INSTEAD of a 75 minute drive in public transport, be at your girlfriend's place in 45 minutes ;)
BigRedRod

and thats hollands system :)
English Public transport costs more and takes about 5 times as long

I'm betting you mean: That's the Netherlands' system...

Drive 2 hours in europe you're likely to nearly leave the country... drive 2 hours in Australia.. you're at the local shops...
BigRedRod
7th of September, 2002, 17:53
Netherlands, Holland, it's all the same to me :)
either way your public transport system is better in Europe than ours that the government tries to force us onto when driving it a cheap practical alternative

What's the penalty for driving without a license? A small fine and a suspension of your virtual license? :)
BigRedRod
7th of September, 2002, 22:54
A slap on the wrists and a small present
I think it's a short stay in jail actually, although that might be for doing something wrong without a license
Azyr

The only way you're gonna get caught without a license is if you do something stupid, like speed past a police car or try and go through a toll-bridge, and they have reason to check up on you.
They do frown on it quite heavily, though, so I'm told...
Ah, dear, beloved england. Where the trains never run on time, and the bus drivers don't even seem to understand the basic concept of 'schedule'... :(

Play a little Hard Driving, that did it for me when I had to learn to drive a manual transmission. Video games and simlators are the wave of the future. If pilots learn in a box, why not auto drivers?
