Anything related to challenges but not a specific one may go here. This is also a nice place to discuss ideas for future challenges and get some feedback.

Chat away, amigos.

I think you should have a Cock Fight...of course that would require stats for chickens (which aren't in any of the books lol). But make everybody play the exact same chicken and see who is the most creative when it comes to the fights :)

Also have weird animal/insect fights (i.e. Preying Mantis, perhaps a lv1 monk?, vs a baby tiger :)) Apparently that's how some of the old kung fu styles were created way back in the day, the old monks would put animals against each other and watch them fight, then create the martial arts based on how they fought :)

If everyone plays something with the exact same stats it comes down to who gets the best rolls, unfortunately. Not very noteworthy, in my opinion. There would have to be some level of differentiation.

Nah, if there is a cock fight then Doombot would definately win. Cause he is definately a...wait, you meant cock as in...nevermind.

In that case, I would win because I have...oh, you didn't mean that either?

I'm so confused...

I sense a theme.

A theme of total awesomeness? I sense it too.

What about a dragon fight? Each player picks a specific color dragon and plays an elder dragon of that type...ie Red vs Blue, Green vs Black, etc.

Every dragon has different stats, different breath weapons, and different spells available so the fights would be fun to see :)

Or we could see how many cats or angry peasants it takes to kill dragons of various age groups. Although that would most likely just become an exercise in stats and more suited to somebody writing a computer program.

I've recently thought up another idea that I quite like.

The Challenge Rating... Challenge!

In essence a team of four member will be formed and built around an average level. They then fight random monsters of various CRs to see which team lasts the longest. Of course the longer you survive the higher the CR will get. Could be fun.

We'll have to put to vote the next challenge once HEC is done.

I like that. Especially if the encounters are cranked out of random tables.

A wizard who literally makes a random encounter generator, bringing in an appropriate challenge to the group. I'm seeing an enormous game of slots.

*ding* *ding* *ding*

And... that's a basilisk, a dire lion, and an ochre jelly! This should be fun, if a bit confusing to watch!

I find this idea to be hilarious and will ensure that it is incorporated.

Another idea sprang to mind when looking through a manual...

Superhero Build-off Challenge!

Recreate your favorite superhero using D&D rules. Hard to choose a winner, of course, and the idea has many flaws but it's something to think about when the next challenge comes around.

Damn it, I was going to suggest that!

My concept was of thus: using all the books of monsters I have (I've got around 20 books with at least 10 monsters in them, and 6 books dedicated to monsters), I'll send monsters of a certain cr at a group built at that ECL until they perish.

Since LuneMoonShadow is DMing this one, I want to DM the next.

I claim the next challenge!

I'd like to participate in this one, as it seems to be cool. I've been wanting to try to make a D&D Spiderman, so therefore I lay claim to Spidey now.

Another idea would be a...

Supervillain Build-off Challenge!

then have the winners of the SHB-oC and the SvB-oC face off to find the best super-person of all time!

Bastard. (http://online-roleplaying.com/forums/showpost.php?p=275506&postcount=2)

But anyway. So the next challenge is yours. Have a name for it? I, of course, suggest going with the _________ Challenge format, but it's up to you.

Titles that describe the event are also good.

I remember doing the superhero thing back on the 3ebb, I've never seen such nerdy arguments. We could always just submit that one to a vote.

Challenge Rating Challenge was better than anything I had.

Schedule me in after the Housecat Endurance Challenge then.

Link, since HEC is drawing to a close you might want to start your CRC discussion/sign-ups.

Very well. Those interested should check the thread in the Character Aquisition forum.

Is anyone planning on running a challenge at the completion of the CRC?

How about that Rogue/Cleric duel between Lune (the other one) and Link to prove which is better at rogue-ish things?

Darken

What's there to prove? Cleric is better at everything than anything else if it's built for it.

But I'd like to suggest a quick little spin-off after the CRC that I have suggested before in the discussion thread of it: take the top 4 winners, toss them in a party, refresh their spells/items, and throw epic monsters at them.

Yeah, I'm in for that. If I'm in, that is. :D

Other than that... I don't really have a good idea for a challenge. The CR Challenge as well as the Cat Challenge are pretty awesome - it's not that easy to come up with something comparable where people would take part in.

Another challenge idea that just came to me: Monster Wrangling

Creatures of various CRs (above and below the characters) are in a wide open cube and it's the player's job to get the creatures to their cages. Whether it be by a clever Sleep spell or by grappling, it doesn't matter. These creatures can likewise possibly fly, turn invisible temporarily, etc. Whatever is granted to them in the MM.

It's a very weird idea, I admit, but it could be hilarious.

That would be very cool to see. You do in multiple rounds which adds +1 CR each time. So the first round you'd have to get a goblin into the cage.

Then the second round you might have 2 goblins and 2 cages or something like 1 zombie.

That'd be a blast to watch.

LuneMoonshadow

My thought was actually just one giant cube with a huge array of creatures and the competitors have a certain amount of rounds to get as many of the things into the cages as possible.

Realistically the higher the CR the creature the point value, so it'd come down to figuring out what to chase down, because you have to find a balance between difficulty/points and time efficiency.
