A draconic bard versus a spiker grappler. It doesn't get much more exotic than this folks.

At least not in this class. Some of the other classes in the larger event aren't even open to conventional humanoids.

Maybe, but I'm interested in what's about to happen here more than that.

The immediate prospect of violence always intrests you. Rakesh, Spikey, introduce yourselves to the crowd.

Rakesh soaks in the cheers of the crowd for a moment, glad that his section is at least a little louder than Spikey's. This must be the loudest he's ever heard the stadium!
If Rakesh beats Spikey's initiative:
Rakesh taps the heals of his boots together and moves quickly toward the dragonne bellowing:
"I know why the chained dragonne roars, ah me,
When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore,
When he beats his links and would be free;
It is not a carol of joy or glee,
But a curse that he sends to drain my heart's core
But a plea, that upward to Heaven he flings -
I know why the chained dragonne roars."
He darts in with a great tumbling leap and tears the chain from around the dragonne's neck with his teeth, skillfully turning away from the beasts own fangs and claws.
OOC: Dodge target is Spikey. Activate boots of speed. Move to G32. Jump (+34=>[roll0]) assisted by accelerated tumble (+8=>[roll1]) to impress the crowd while moving to G23. Attack the chain holding the dragonne with bite attack as primary attack using Expertise -5 and Power Attack -5 (Attack Bonus: +13 BAB +12 Str +2 morale +1 haste -5 Exp -5 PA = +18=>[roll2], Damage: 1d6 + 12 Str +2 morale +5 PA = 1d6+19=>[roll3]). Move to H26. Attacks of opportunity will not be taken during the showmanship round, but will be taken with spiked chain during second round. AoO are for damage (Attack Bonus: +13 BAB +12 Str +2 magic +2 morale +1 haste -5 Exp -5 PA = +20, Damage: 2d4 + 1d6 + 18 Str +2 magic +2 morale +10 PA = 2d4+1d6+32). AC 36 (37 vs Spikey)

If Rakesh does not beat Spikey's initiative:
Rakesh makes a quick incantation. A couple of lewd poems run through his mind, but he chooses to keep the banter out of the gutter for now.
"You grappled well in your previous match.
You forced Yarden to claw and scratch.
I beat the elf they said was untouchable.
Don't expect this match to be so comfortable."
He then leaps into the air, landing on the ground near a particularly loud group of his fans.
OOC: Bad poems are fun. :P Rakesh casts grease on himself and jumps (+22=>[roll4]) onto the platform at D32 to impress the crowd with tumble (+18=>[roll5]) to assist.

Spikey glances over to the half-dragon, noting his exact position. Calling on his inner powers, his skin color suddenly darkens slightly. Raising his kama to the audience in greeting, Spikey then takes off on a jog across the arena, quickly gathers speed and then vaults into the air in his usual, characteristic manner. Choosing his position well, he then turns to his opponent and waits.

[Manifest augmented Animal affinity (+4 Str and +4 Dex for 8 PPs) as standard action then move to H14 and jump over the crate to P14 to impress crowd, then move to R11

Note: I accidently placed 3 monsters and 1 construct instead of 2 of each. By random determination the dragonne has been replaced by a warforged titan to fix this.

Spikey glances across the arena, barely able to see Rakesh. Seemingly happy with the distance between them for now, he concentrates and calls forth another power to aid him. Then he vaults onto the crate next to him and starts balancing on his hands on the side of it. He then cartwheels along the edge of it before a flip brings him back to his feet facing Rakesh.

[Manifest precognition, offensive (twice augmented for +3 / 7 PPs), then hop onto crate in S10 (DC 40 - automatic) and then tumble (+22) to impress the crowd, assisted by balance (+6).

What is he doing over there? It looks like he's ... thinking? And doing some rather unimpressive cartwheels. Rakesh bellows a chanting battle cry:
"The pack is stronger than the one
Spikey is fast, but he can not run.
The pack will find him and chase him until
They revel in the blood of the fresh kill."
With that, several copies of Rakesh form around him, he vaults into the air and glides down to a platform.

Spikey looks over at his opponent and strains to hear what the half-dragon is chanting. As there are suddenly several replicas of him in place around him, he just nods to himself. Ah, there they come... now let's get a little closer to him and see what they are up to. And I better make up for that miserable performance as well.

Spikey leisurely vaults over the wall next to him and does perfect cartwheels across the arena. He stops just between to low walls and suddenly erupts into a series of jumps and kicks as he uses the walls for leverage, showing off his skills.

[Jump over wall in S11 (automatic). Tumble to R14 while avoiding difficult terrain. Perform weapon drill to impress crowd.

The crowd seems impressed by Spikey's tumbling, but they would not be here if they did not want a fight. Rakesh moves quickly, jumping and flying to land near the astral construct. He continues with a dash across the arena floor, swiping away the warforged titan's arms as he goes. He yells above the crowd:
Gnat dances and flips
Can he fight as well as prance?
Dragon will find out

OOC: Activiate boots of speed. Move - jumping over rubble - to spring attack warforged titan from J20 fighting defensively with combat expertise (Attack Bonus: +13 BAB +12 Str +2 weapon +2 morale +1 haste -5 Exp -4 Fight Def = +21=>[roll0], Damage subdual so ineffective). Continue move by jumping ([roll1]) assisted accelerated tumbling ([roll2]) over the platform in J18 to impress the crowd and moving to K16. Dodge target is Spikey.
Also, Rakesh should have 7 2nd level spells left instead of 8.

Rakesh activates his boots of speed.
Rakesh moves and attacks the Warforged Titan, attempting to deal non-lethal damage. 36 vs. AC 25. Hits. Non-lethal damage is ineffective against a construct. (This negates the possible crowd bonus from spring attack).
Rakesh moves, jumping and tumbling to impress. Since Rakesh can fly, the crowd doesn’t care about his jumping. Tumble 18 vs. DC 40. Fails. Crowd is not impressed.

Spikey nods thoughtfully as he sees the dragon close with him. Let's see if he can do more than create bothersome noise. Yawning copiously and visibly, Spikey suddenly jumps up slightly and lands with one foot on the top of the little wall to his left... and one foot on top of the little wall to his right, doing the perfect splits. Extending a hand to Rakesh, he motions him over.

Almost as an afterthought, Spikey closes his eyes for a moment. His outlines seem to smear suddenly until he's totally blurred. A blurred grin is still visible though...

Spikey now seems to focus entirely on his opponent. His body seems relaxed, but strangely tense at the same time.

[Note: The splits move is just for show - nothing mechanical involved.

Rakesh growls in frustration as Spikey's outline becomes harder to distinguish. He and his pack of duplicates lope in, hop over the rocks, and swing his chain out, immediately reversing course, and darts passed leaping onto the platform in the corner of the arena.

Spikey moves only ever so slightly as Rakesh attacks him, but that is enough to confuse the eyesight of the half-dragon. His chain whistles past Spikey's legs, missing barely.

Lowering both his legs to the ground, Spikey turns to Rakesh and then points first at his chest and then at Rakesh's. Grinning, he accesses his inner reserves and vaults over the wall in front of him. Dodging Rakesh's chain he tumbles into his reach and swings his kama in a wide arc at the half-dragon's feet.

[Activate haste as free action. Manifest hustle as swift action (3 PPs). Jump to R12 to impress, then tumble to R10 at half speed (automatic success). Greater Flurry with kama to trip, focusing on one Rakesh until mirror image is destroyed, Rakesh is tripped or he hits but fails to trip Rakesh (if counter-tripped, drop kama). If he hits, fails to trip and is not counter-tripped, continue to try and trip Rakesh (mod is +9). Follow-up attack if trip is successful will be for damage with kama+2.

Spikey decides to do what he does best, despite Rakesh’s magical precaution. Using his abating resources, he suddenly grows in size to tower slightly above Rakesh. Smiling broadly, he grabs for the half-dragon. Time to bring him down…

[Boots will remain active unless stated otherwise. 5’ step to R9. Manifest Expansion as a swift action (7 PPss) defensively (automatic Concentration check) to become large size (R9 – S8) and then try to grapple Rakesh (+34/+34/+29/+24). Go for grapple – if grapple successful (move into his space automatic jump check), then pin (preventing Rakesh from speaking). If Rakesh is pinned, the last attack will be to disarm his shield. If disarm is successful, drop shield in S8 as a free action (with disdain ;) ).
AoOs will be made to trip with follow-up for stun and damage.

Rakesh completes his spring attack hopping onto the platform. All of a sudden, the spiker is on him. He wrenches away the kama, but then just sees a flurry of fists and next thing he knows he is grappled. "You broke my nose!" he says in stunned disbelief as blood poors down his face. "Get off me!" he cries and begins struggling with the spiker.

If successful escape:
If possible exit grapple at Q11 at 15' elevation, tumble at half speed => [roll1] to P13 (25' movement), fly to P18 (25' lateral movement) rising to 10' more elevation (20' movement) to end at P18 at 25' elevation.

Spikey wraps his arms and legs around Rakesh preparing to squeeze again as the half-dragon suddenly starts to wiggle out of his grasp aided by the fat all over his armor. Grimly, Spikey squeezes even harder. Inch by inch Rakesh makes progress and suddenly 'pops' out of Spikey's embrace. Furiously the spiker looks after him as he tumbles through the air...

Spikey watches Rakesh flee from his grasp and position himself near the construct. Shrugging shortly he gauges his distance from the ground, nods and takes off. His arms make a windmill motion for a second or two before he stabilizes. Grimacing, Spikey continues to regather his balance while shrinking away from the construct. Doing another flip off it, he performs a cartwheel with the chain held only by one hand and flying up in a wide arc... before he brings it down onto the rim of the moat. Pullling it back and forth twice, he then lets it drop into the moat and holds up his hand, finally motioning Rakesh towards him openly.

The chain swishes through the air where Spikey had been the moment before. Putting some distance between himself and the half-dragon, Spikey assesses the situation anew. My defense is weakened... and there are five of him to deal with... Hesitating a moment, Spikey then turns to the audience and cartwheels away, hops easily over a crate and then halts. Loosening his shoulders he then flips onto one hand and balances on it. After finding his balance, he then presents several spectacular air kicks before flipping back on his feet and looking towards Rakesh once more.

Time to give the crowd something to look at as my opponent seems intent on prancing about... and taking a swim. Focusing on the dire bear, Spikey then points his forefinger at it, nods, looks at the audience, then makes a great show of looking over his shoulder in Rakesh's direction and shrugging and then takes off... he flips and cartwheels all the way to the dire bear and jumps him in an attempt to wrestle and bring him down.

As Spikey continues to wrestle with the bear, Rakesh chants a short diddy and his movements increase in speed. He hops up on the nearby platform and then lopes over the walls and rubble in his way as he speeds along the edge of the arena. As he goes, he makes a couple faux sniffs at the air as if he is in fact a pack of wolves catching scent of its prey. On the way, he retrieves his spiked chain and begins to whirl it around his head as he goes.

OOC:

From the corner of his eye, Spikey sees Rakesh approach. Focusing his attention on the dire bear for now, he lets him go just enough to swing his kama at the chain and free the beast before grabbing it in a bear hug once more.

[Turn boots off. If there is some way for Spikey to actively lose the second grapple check to let the bear out of the pin, he'll do so.

1. If bear is pinned, let him go, attack the chain with adamantine kama fighting defensively, go for grapple and pin again.

Spikey cannot help but scream in pain and rage as Rakesh's spiked chain slashes the whole length of his back open, ripping off several of his spikes. "Graaaaaahh!" Furious and distracted at the onslaught, he relaxes his grip enough so that the dire bear can wriggle out of his control. Fighting back for control, Spikey then seizes the opportunity and rolls away from Rakesh underneath the bear, jumping to his feet as he releases his grip on the massive beast. Moving away to tend to his wounds, he keeps an eye on the flying half-dragon... suddenly he vaults upwards, kips up in mid-air and dives into the moat head-long.

[Activate Boots of speed. Grapple to pin.

If successful on first attempt, release bear as a free action ending up in H36, try to stand up as free action with tumble to impress crowd. If successful as free action, move to G35 tumbling at half speed to avoid AoOs then move full speed to E29 and jump to impress into the moat at B23.
If standing up costs a move action, manifest hustle defensively (auto success) afterwards and move as described above.

If pinning takes more than one attempt, release dire bear as free action (when finally pinning him) to end up in H36, finish full attack dealing unarmed non-lethal damage to the bear and attempting to stun, then manifest hustle defensively (automatic success) and try to stand up as free action with tumble to impress. If successful (if bear is still alive, then tumble at half speed the first 5'), move to E29 and then jump to impress and into the moat at B23 (or as far along B as possible), letting himself sink to the bottom. If unsuccessful, step to G35 and smile weakly at Rakesh.

Rakesh exclaims in frustration, "Again we try to fight and again he runs away!" He decides to take a little of his frustration out on the bear, darting under the bear's outstreched claws and swatting it in the face with one of his own. He then back tracks, leaping onto the platform and balancing for a moment before flipping and then continuing on closer to where Spikey entered the water.

Spikey hears Rakesh shout something somewhere off to the left. Quickly vaulting to his feet with a huge leap, he then moves across the arena once more, taking to the air spinning flipping in the air while saluting the crowd and thereby celebrating his return from the watery depths with his standard move. Landing on his feet he then jumps across a few obstacles and hops onto a nearbye platform raising both of his arms - his gaze focused on his draconic adversary.

[Tumble to try and stand up as a free action and to impress. In either case move to G14 to get a running start and then jump to K14 to impress, then jump from K14 to N11, move to n8 and jump onto the platform in N7 (automatic). (this should be exactly 80 ft. movement)

Finding a spot of his choice, he once more faces Rakesh with an impassive expression.

Spikey nods slowly to himself as Rakesh vanishes from sight. I would have expected that earlier... but now? Well, I need to stay on the move. Again Spikey starts cartwheeling across the arena - as much for defense as to impress the crowd. Coming to a halt a little way off, he holds up both hands shortly and shrugs indicating to the crowd that he knows as little of Rakesh's whereabouts as they do. A moment later he adopts a defensive stance scanning his surroundings

Spikey finds himself down on the ground, but easily evades the chain swishing past. Grinning grimly up at his adversary, Spikey nods once and then vaults to his feet.

[Activate boots as free action. Manifest hustle defensively (automatic success - concentration should be at +16 (Con mod is wrong)), then try to get up as a free action using tumble... and to impress. I will post this first so that I don't have to post two lines of thought for the rest of the actions.

Btw - should Rakesh not get a +2 to crowd attitude for the successful trip as well?

Spikey gets up and immediately bends backwards in a desperate effort to evade the chain flying at him. Dodging to the left he closes the distance to his adversary and grins rather grimly at him.

Pursing his lips at the sight of all the Rakesh's in front of him, he resorts to his other senses to tell him where to grab.

[5' step to O28. Close eyes as free action. Full attack to grapple, then to pin, then to deal damage via grapple. When he gets a hold of Rakesh or all attacks have 'missed', open eyes once more.

Since I don't want to cause a hold up by asking and then posting, I'll do one thing under a condition (sorry, I seem to have forgot again):
IF fighting defensively does not penalize the grapple check, the touch attacks are made fighting defensively.
