Hey everyone - here's the stuff for LB's Vampires game. I'm only a Mod in this section because it's my forum. LB, you have single access to the GM planning subforum - that's totally your world in there, so have fun with it. LB and I decided to put this forum here, with all of my games, so that everyone not only has access, but can properly participate within the game. Our old forum has done a lot of good for us, but it's really not built for games.
Now that that's out of the way, I guess we just need to wait for LB to wander across this place and give us the new ground rules.

That name is perfect because I try to get it straight, but every once in a while I'll talk to Chris about Production and he says, "what?" or I ask LB about Vampires and he says, "which Vampires game now?" :P
Thanks Chris for the set up work. Thanks LightBringer for bringing it over so I can play Erin with less headaches. Y'all are both awesome.

(The answer is A Clockwork Orange.)
HEY GM/CHRIS
I'm going to later on set up a record book for this game. I just did a search for something and well, Giant is MESSED UP. Shall I make a new thread? That's what I was going to do. Since the "GM planning" part up there says PRIVATE that's of no use to me. If you do have records, can you make a public thread? I'll wait to see the answer to this before I do the actual work.
If I end up doing it, I'll put links to start with, which may take me a while to do, so be patient. But Chris, do you still have that utility that breaks down the pdfs?
Thanks in advance!

Also remember, no one, with a couple exceptions, has any memory of your 'other' lives. In fact you have no real specific memories of this life. It's almost as if they form as you see things that cause you to focus. Almost as if the path ways to the memory is created spontaneously.
You all know what your armor and weapons are capable of, as well as how to use them.
Von will provide us with an example of this memory creation. Although his former self knew nothing about sailing, he is now the captain of a vessel. We will see his progression of memories as they develop.

LightBringer
30th of November, 2007, 03:55
You my friend don't remember squat.
The only ones who have any memory are Erin, Lin, and Anthony.
Not being teachers pet, but because Erin has been through this before, and is thus able to help Anthony. Lin is slightly more intuned to himself. Therefore he senses something is off.
They to are still suffering from the spider-web overlay effect. Erin is in the lead since, as I said, she has actual experience with this sort of thing. Lin would be in second, although he has only remembered some small portions. Anthony in third as his memories revolve around Erin, and not much else.
The rest of you guys don't remember anything. Don't worry though, it might come back. For now enjoy your new lives, and have fun.
As a side note, you can add little memories froom this world if you like, but most stuff I'll fill in for you. Don't worry you'll enjoy.
LightBringer

Von see post # 38. I mean absolutely no research. Don't look for the rules in a pdf, don't scour sites, nothing. Don't buy any edition of StormBringer. Don't make me regret having let you all in on the secret of what world you were in. If you slip a say something I know you are not supposed to know I will bolt your character, and you can rejoin the game at a later date when the others who follow the rules have caught up to your knowledge level with a different character.
Or if I really get pissed I'll just drop the game period. Then you'll have to answer to T.

LightBringer
1st of December, 2007, 01:48
Basically yeah. Firstly, I'm trying to save you money, and keep things uncomplicated. Secondly, I can assure you I am NOT buying any new books. If you like the system, and want to do your own thing in a couple months, then go for it. I will not be buying the 4th edition Strombringer, and very unlikely will I be playing in it. I like the system as it is laid out in my 1 book, and am not changing.
It boils down to, I'm tired of new freaking versions, and new freaking books, every other freaking year. I'm really hoping 4th edition D&D takes off, and everyone switchs to it, and I can just drop the hell out, cause I'm not going there either.
Right now, I'm having a blast. Having people know all the rules, and all the ways to do things, and all the things they can do, would just fuck that up for me. Soon enough you will see things that may inspire you to try something, or you might just try something for the hell of it. I don't want people going, 'Oh, I'm this, I should be able to do this, or that.' and don't try to deny that, that would happen, I may not be there, but I've still got my eyes on you guys. :evolved:
To me all the fun would be sucked away. So yeah, I'm a little touchy. IF you are NOT having fun, and you guys think knowing all the rules and every little detail of everything is going to add to your fun, then I suppose I really can't stop you. Just remember, when everyone knows all the rules and every little detail of everything, the GM can, and will, no longer bend those rules to help out his players. :\

That reminds me! Vonapier will be tickled to know this:
Merriam-Webster's Word of the Year 2007
Thousands of you took part in the search for Merriam-Webster's Word of the Year for 2007, and the vast majority of you chose a small word that packs a pretty big punch. The word you've selected hasn't found its way into a regular Merriam-Webster dictionary yet—but its inclusion in our online Open Dictionary, along with the top honors it's now been awarded—might just improve its chances. This year's winning word first became popular in competitive online gaming forums as part of what is known as l33t ("leet," or "elite") speak—an esoteric computer hacker language in which numbers and symbols are put together to look like letters. Although the double "o" in the word is usually represented by double zeroes, the exclamation is also known to be an acronym for "we owned the other team"—again stemming from the gaming community.
Merriam-Webster's #1 Word of the Year for 2007 based on votes from visitors to our Web site:
1. w00t (interjection)
expressing joy (it could be after a triumph, or for no reason at all); similar in use to the word "yay"w00t! I won the contest!

In todays edition of Who's that Guy?!?
Vash:
Vash hails the the country of Jharkor. Jharkor is made up of your average human stock. They vary in height, weight, and hair/eye color combinations.
Vash comes in at 5'6", has sandy blonde hair, and green eyes. Well at least one is green. The other is covered with a black eye patch. Something must have done a job on Vash. He has quite a scar along that side of his face that runs under the patch.
Jharkor mostly follows the Lords of Chaos, but it does have a temple to the Lords of Law, and Lawful warriors and agents are allowed to wander freely. The people of Jharkor are a hearty stock, and as such have produced some fierce warriors.
(If you want to change the wood eye thing, this is your only chance. I'll only ask once.)

And today we have the fierce warrior from Pikarayd..Reese.
Pikarayd is a savage land where only the strong survive. Most of Pikarayd is populated by it's nomadic people, although they do have settlements of farmland and two cities on the coast. No outsiders are allowed inside the countries borders. Those caught are often sacrificed in out of the way temples. Only with permission and a Pikarayd warrior as a guide can one hope to enter the countryside.
Reese comes from the tribe known as the Co'mancho. He has black hair, and wild black eyes. You can see his spirit is untamed, yet he carries himself well. Reese comes in at a heart-stopping 5'4". As with most Pikaraydians Reese has sharp facial features and dark tanned skin.

This is the rigging and the sails deployed on the great vessel of Captain 'Fancy Pants' Von, of the Isle of Purple towns. It's carrying capacity is 69 tons, as some of the cargo area was converted into rooms. It has a crew of 50, but could be increased to 100. There are 2 small catapults located at the rear of the vessel and a large ballista at the front. In keeping with tradition the vessel's hull is entirely purple.
Much like Jharkor, the Isle of Purple Towns is made up of your average human stock. They vary in height, weight, and hair/eye color combinations.
Our fair Captain has Sandy blonde hair with ocean blue eyes. He stands in at 5'10", and while not the most physical of the group, Captain Von's wit and silver tongue have saved him more times than his scimitar.

I wasn't confused, it's all right there in my checkbook ;). I will admit though, that I did forget about there being a seat in the cart. Still, no big.
Speaking of record keeping though -- do I have an idea of the date or month or season ...something like that? If my memory isn't giving me that yet, I'm keeping my eye out for it. Actually, a lunar cycle will be good, I can keep up with it that way easily. I always would notice the moon anyway. No good having a clueless TimeKeeper. :)

Grrrrrrr, whatev! Fine, I'll remember to glance at the moon tonight. If it gets stuck in one phase and (worse!) there's only ONE season, oh no, I'm gonna warn you I'll be disappointed. Plus, I'm not sure how Von will navigate without tides. ;)

1) Does it just serve to prove the point that when I read "P. pump" I was wondering why ANYONE would buy purple pumps? Yes. I did. My mind went to shoes automatically reading the word "pump."
2) The cherry stuff -- uh... that is another story for someone else to tell... :tsk: But be prepared for it all night.

Couple of questions.
1) How long is a combat round?
2) Melniboneans aren't human, right? What about Mabdens? (Or Pan Tangian so you all know;))
3) Has night fallen?
4) Did we finish our meal before Phelar dismissed Rashanka? Did she eat as well?
Ok 4 questions.
LightBringer
15th of January, 2008, 06:43
1. A combat round is 12 seconds.
2. Correct. Melniboneans are not human. Mabdens are human. They try to believe themselves equals to the Melniboneans. While this may be the case in some rare individual comparisions, it is not so on a racial level.
3. No, it is around dusk. (The convoy traveled from around 7 am to 5 pm.) Then dinner was prepared.
4. Dinner was basically finished. Some may have had more on their plates, but Phelar was done. The girl did not eat. Then she was dismissed.

As assistant GM, I decree no one is allowed to make any posts if there is snow outside and they haven't at least gone and let it sting their face. That means you, Outlaw. Go breathe some fresh air. Guys --
Thanks for putting up with our family being pretty much worthless last night. I was hyper but that didn't mean I could think.
I probably shouldn't have put everything on hold like that, even if two of us weren't up for it the rest of you were probably. If you guys want to post feel free to drive Erin until Monday or whenever I can get 8 hours of sleep in me.

Hey, I hope you guys are working on your character sheets. I mean I'm giving you the names of the skills as you use them, and a process of elimination should zero you in on your percentage chance. For instance, we know Von can hit with the number he just rolled, but how low of a percentage has he used to attack and missed? :S

I'm not entirely sure of all the water conditions everywhere, but I've got a fair grasp. We don't want to wander into the Boiling Sea or too close to Melnibone. I am thinking the Straights of Chaos are inadvisable too. ;) All correct? Also, any other No Zones I need to know about?

LightBringer

Isn't it. I think I'll use it rather than my map. We need to put up a link to this page at the top of the IC thread.
LadyGlutter
24th of July, 2008, 22:40
I put up a new thread just for the map actually, then used C's executive powers to delete it because although it's just one picture I thought a whole new thread might not be a good idea after all, even though we wouldn't be posting. I deleted it because I am kinda overwhelmed sometimes with all the link sprawl. So, it's pretty convenient and either way is fine and he can undelete it if you want.
Or, if you'd RATHER, you can put it in your first post where you say I'll have the start of IC later. Just copy this:
http://fantasymaps.files.wordpress.com/2008/01/map-of-elrics-world-ykmanag.jpg
then press the picture button above and when you get the little pop box saying "enter your url" paste it, making sure you delete the original "http://" they have there.
LightBringer
24th of July, 2008, 22:48

Triple post for me, wooooo!
Alright, Mr. GM sir. We have a problem that you need to arbitrate.
Chris made this post, and I walked up as he was pressing "Send",
I just smile and nod.
Sure, Erin. I just must not remember. That's it.
This sparked a discussion where it became clear that Chris is under the impression that Lin has the most memories of all of us, two relatively complete sets of memories. He says you told him that because of his meditation, etc, he had the best chance. This is something which I remember you saying, but I remember it being of all the others, since I had already body jumped once, but where we disagree is that
1)*I* believe Lin had a basic, general memory of Gaia, not as strong as if he were in that life right now, but fair. Probably a bit less than Erin's. And
2) I further thought that until we were told otherwise, none of us had any more memories than we were leading into of this world at all... that the meditation we all did, with different levels of success, only was to help us to have a hold on what we just left, not this world. That a huge part of what we're roleplaying now is self-discovery. That would mean whether those old memories are important to who we are now, or if we decide it's not important enough to press on finding out more about our past in the Young Kingdoms and we are who we make ourselves, or a blending of the two.
It's a pretty big issue actually, and really will affect the way Lin in particular will be played.
LightBringer
6th of September, 2008, 12:06
The original 'meditations' were to determine how much you could remember/retain from the previous world. Even with the best results, which were for Lin and Erin, you could only remember the most important points with a vague familiarity. Even at that no one could remember the last day of the previous life. Some of the fog lifted as you continued on, but there are still some things you feel like you're 'missing'.
Lin's training and mental excersises worked in his favor. Erin's experience in her's.
Since at the time I hadn't worked out the current character stories, and story lines it would have been impossible to tell you what you remembered from this lifetime. I did give you each the base information of your characters, but that was not to imply that you remembered who you are here.
At this point Erin has the most memories of this current life, while Lin has a clearer picture of the past life.
Chris Chandler
6th of September, 2008, 12:20
Ah... So LG and I are both... right... in our own way. That's just about right. I think I understand now. LG says, "Eh, I'm good with it, too."
Also, as a note, we're vested in the Kuralia game right now. Outlaw and Von and Vash all agreed that they'd post after they went home. Have a good night, LB!

It's no big deal, life happens, and you gotta wait to have fun every once in a while. I know, it's hard to get used to not having your WoWcrack especially probably.

Yeah, I think it's a more fitting name too, seeing as how when LB called it "Vampires" the other day it took me a minute... I had to go through the following thought process: Vampires... oh, he means GURPS... wait we're not using GURPS right now. I mean, Production! :fun:
Of course, by that point he'd already said "Production" but I had to still go through that.

Baby Ruth (which then makes me think of Sloth, from The Goonies)
Dr. Ruth Westheimer (which makes me think of... not Sloth from The Goonies)
YMMV
LadyGlutter
20th of December, 2008, 14:05

LadyGlutter
21st of December, 2008, 08:24
Okay, on further reading, Oh My Gosh, LB, totally be Lord Ruthven!!!
I mean first off, it is a cool that it's the first known literary real vampire story... but also, it works in to the Mary Shelley and Lord Byron ghost story circle, which is... I mean I LOVE that idea, of them sitting around drinking absinthe and telling their stories, and those are some of my favorite authors, and in a way it's an homage to storytellers of long ago, too!
*goes off to find and reread Frankenstein....*

Yeah, LG's totally a prude. I mean, what was it, day 3 in New Orleans before the Vampire pool sex? I mean, sure he was cold and all... well, it was a heated pool, so he was warm too.
Yeah, total prude.

Why didn't I ever answer this? I know exactly what I want - one that sounds like Captain Hammer from Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog! (http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Dr._Horrible_s_Sing-Along_Blog/70115760?trkid=2361637#height1586)
Heehee, I knew it was on Netflix Instant. :) Aaaand, it's Joss Whedon. You know you gotta love some Joss Whedon PLUS Felicia Day.

It is most excellent.
LB, her answer would be, though, for the sword to be a baritone (Captain Hammer). You know she's going to pick the answer not on the sheet.
