Duel Arcana: Round 5 Match 1

With the departure of Loopy we are down to just four duelists. Entering the arena are the first two.

This duel will be between Darek and Rasca.

The crowd knows our competitors fairly well by now, so let's get right to the duel!

Please send me a private message with your prepared spells, spells cast prior to the duel, what you will have in hand, what spell(s) you will cast on the first round, and what action you will take on the 2nd round (either prepare to counterspell or total defense).

Rasca walks into the arena, loaded crossbow in hand like he has been seen everytime before. He casts up a minor protection, and then gets ready for the duel proper.

Darek is starting his first spell… and turns invisible again.

Can’t blame him, it has been very effective in the past.

Rasca has cast a minor protection of his own but it seems that Rasca can not see Darek. He is on his guard, we will see if it does any good.

Black tentacles have sprouted from the ground to grab Rasca.

Darek isn’t playing around. Evard’s black tentacles have been the end of many wizards.

Well judging by the last few duels it is pretty much over for Rasca. Even if he wiggled free it is unlikely he could make it out of reach of the tentacles before he was grabbed again.

Oh come now, Rasca might make it out.

Sister Bessin casts Reach Cure Minor wounds on Rasca.
Archmage Odepheron casts Greater Dispel Magic to dispel the tentacles. 9+15=24 vs. DC 20, success.

A blast of fire and it is over! Darek will advance and Rasca is out!

A classic fireball, a rather standard choice for Darek, he usually favors more obscure spells.

Those are good too, but as long as you blow things up the crowd loves it.
