A good Fourth of July to all the American players and their families
( and to non-American as well, why not?).
May it be safe, happy and great fun! :)

Why not to non-americans? Because we already celebrated our freedom and independance in May :)

We didn't have to declare our independence
we owned the world and gave bits back, and now you all have a day off
you should be thankful that we owned you all at some point :)

Well, to non-americans just as 'have a good day' ;)
And, Red, I'm Italian... in fact we once owned you ;)

Never heard of Italy every occupying Brittain...
The Spanish however, did occupy the Dutch. Took us 80 years of war (not actual fighting) to get them away again :)

We celebrate Federation in January and only once every 100 years, doesn't sound as classy "Independance" or "Freedom" but hey, do -YOU- have 6ft tall bipedal dogs with giant pockets on the front of their chest?
Didn't think so. ;)

*looks out of window*
nope doesnt look like Italy owns us :)
When did that happen?
I don't remember anything about Italy invadinh, although that could just demonstrate my lack of historical knowlege
Plus i know you're Italien, iwas more pointing it out, with very bad phrasing, to any Americans.

Actually it was the Romans occupying you...at least up to the Adrian Wall. Remember the funny ones with laurel wreaths on their heads? ;)

Welli might be a bit hazy in my history of that vast period, but i do believe that the britions never came into contact with the Romans . . .keep in mind i could be wrong, i did after all fail my ancient history class.

Mind you, the roman empire is not ancient history.
And indeed, they never reached the british islands.

That was the Irish and the Scots, Britannia was a roman province, until the Saxon came and Rome had its own problems to solve, your own Maxen even tried to become an emperor (Magnus Maximus it was) :)

Mind you, the roman empire is not ancient history.
I remember doing the invasion of Britain in Ancient History. now if you ask me when it was i'm screwed. which is why i failed

Yes but that was the Roman Empire
not the Italian empire
:)
and yeah they defiently conquered England, either that or they were masters of stealth. I mean, how could they manage to build the castle near my house without anyone noticing :)
And The Roman empire was destroyed soon enough
Although I suppose the Vatican ruled us for a while, but that is Vatican state not Italy :)
The British Empire kind of remains, we still have our home country and a few bits that didn't want to be given back (like Bermuda, whooo! :D)
To include IMHO Italy didn't own us, the Romans did
Although maybe i'm just clutching at straws to prove you wrong :)

The Roman Empire was around since 200BC, It spans from Ancient History into Middle History but unless the Romans where equiped with fire arms then it never makes it to modern history. ;)

I was starting to worry about my history lessons... ;)
Itches, that was 43 AC with Claudius (Julius Caesar tried, too, but was pushed back). ...and then they kept themselvs occupied by building Roman baths, Roman roads, circuses and aqueducts, and that's the reason why it's called the Roman occupation (quoting from memory from '1066 and All That') :)

400 BC to 50 AD
Just so you know, and you english need to sort out the terms to designate history... ;)
BigRedRod

we have sorted out the terms
Modern Important history (us doing anything the rest of the world hasn't and taking over countries)
Ancient Unimportant history (us being taken over, lagging behind in anything and doing anything that is clearly wrong )
It's fairly simple
The Roman invasion is ancient
The British Empire is Modern history
The massacres during the British Empire are ancient history

I suspected something like this, Red. :)
Sorry to differ LeeCHeSSS but the Western Roman Empire fell (officially) in 476 AD, when the last emperor (a child) was deposed by a barbarian general (and lived the rest of his life in luxury, not bad, uh?).
As an empire it started in 27 AC with Augustus (Caesar's nephew). Before that it was the Roman Republic, and before that a small monarchy.
Rome (and Romans) have been around since 754 AC (traditional date).
Sorry, folk, I'm just an history buff :)

I'm a history failure
Mainly becuase British History is boring after the Victorian Era and the teacher was more boring
I'm not bad on Russian history though in the narrow range from about 1900 to 1920

Same story here for maths. :(
Interesting times those, for Russian history, (which reminds me of the old Chinese curse...).
