Duel Arcana: Round 4 Match 2

With just five duelists there will only be two duels today. Rasca has been randomly chosen to receive the bye so that leaves us with our next two duelists, both of whom are undefeated!

Casandrella is back and she is ready to wow the crowd! Facing her is Darek Emberstaff. He seems less interested in the crowd, but I know he has some supporters out there!

Casandrella and Darek faced the same opponent last time they dueled and they used the exact same tactic to win, so it will be interesting to see how they modify their strategies or if they have modified them at all!

The duelists are starting to cast and Casandrella is using a scroll.

She cast see invisibility from it, not a bad choice considering Darek’s usual tactics.

Doesn’t look like Darek is disappearing this time, in fact you can’t miss him! He is nearly 12’ tall!

An enlarge person spell. Simple but effective and a good counter to Casandrella’s black tentacles.

It looks like these two have done their homework. I think we can expect a very good match.

Casandrella almost shrieks when Darek suddenly grows to near giant proportions. Hoping to delay an immenent beating, the sorceress casts one of her most powerful spells. She then produces a scroll from her pack.

Darek snorts derisively as he sees the incoming incantation. A bit of squid, a few hand gestures and a short phrase sees the sorceress' spell unraveled.

Round 3:
Casandrella casts Evard’s Black Tentacles. This triggers Darek’s readied action.
Darek attempts to counterspell. Spellcraft check is automatic with a +21 modifier vs. a DC of 19. Darek casts Evard’s Black Tentacles as a counterspell and Casandrella’s spell is countered.

Casandrella tried to call up her tentacles again but Darek was well prepared to counter it.

It is now up to Darek. Will he respond in kind or does he have something else up his sleeve?

Casandrella has managed to call up her tentacles and it looks like she has snared her opponent.

That is the strength of a Sorceress, she can just keep casting and casting the same spell until she can land one.

Darek directs the Defenestrating Sphere to attack Casandrella. Ranged touch attack to hit, 13+4-1=16 vs. touch AC 13, hits. Deals 13 damage. Casandrella attempts a Fort save to avoid being knocked down, 7+5=12 vs. DC 21, fails. Casandrella attempts a Fort save to avoid being thrown in the air, 9+5=14 vs. DC 21, fails. Casandrella is thrown 10’ up and 30’ to the Northwest. She takes 3 damage from hitting the ground and is outside the ring.
The duel is placed on hold.
Archmage Odepheron casts Greater Dispel Magic on the Evard’s Black Tentacles spell. 11+15=26 vs. DC 20. Evard’s Black Tentacles is dispelled.
Casandrella must return to the ring as quickly as possible. Once she returns Archmage Odepheron will start the match and new initiatives will be rolled.

Oh my! Darek managed to get his sphere to hit Casandrella and it has thrown her out of the ring. She almost hit the wall!

Archmage Odepheron has placed the duel on hold and dispelled the tentacles. Casandrella will have to get back in the ring quickly if she doesn’t want to be disqualified.

Darek is knocked unconscious.
Sister Bessin casts Close Wounds on Darek as an immediate action. Heals 1+9=10 damage.
Archmage Odepheron casts Greater Dispel Magic at the Black Tentacles. Dispel check 9+15=24 vs. DC 20, success.

It looks like Casandrella is going to try to finish this... And she does with a trio of Force Missiles!

Darek is down but not out. This is his first loss so he is still in the running.

He will be looking for a rematch I am sure. We will have to wait till tomorrow to see what happens.
