Duel Arcana: Round 3 Match 3

Last up today is Frizznik versus Darek! Both duelists have a win under their belt, but Frizznik was crushed by his fellow sorcerer yesterday and needs a win today to stay in the Duel Arcana.

Casandrella fans will have to wait till tomorrow; she has received the bye for today.

I hear some disappointment there, but I am sure we have a great match shaping up before us right now. Frizznik and Darek! Take your places!

Frizznik strolls into the arena, a scowl on his face, all the exposed portions of his skin are covered with hickies from the tentacles which had pummled him the day before. His skin is also glistening slightly from bacon fat he has smeared all over himself at breakfast to try to prevent a similar situation. Once again, he waves his wand at himself, replaces it in his belt, and focuses his attention on his opponent.

Darek grins humorlessly at his new opponent. He had won his last match, but it had been a close thing. Still, there were a few spells that he thought he might be able to toss at this sorcerer. Still, Darek was forced to wonder why his opponent was... glistening.

Darek's lips are set in grim determination, though he is forced to wonder at the lack of foresight of some competitors. Maybe it is because this one is a sorcerer and didn't have the benefit of formal schooling. It was of no matter though.

More black tentacles! I can’t see Frizznik, but this can’t be good for our small sorcerer.

Indeed it is not. He has been caught. He was unable to cope with them yesterday and it is unlikely that he will be able to today.

Frizznik lets out a stream of profanity which makes the words uttered by Sister Bessin when Snap tried to possess her look tame by comparison. He struggles against the tentacles, hoping that the bacon grease will help him get out more easily than he did in his previous fight.

Darek ground his teeth together in rage. That last spell shoul have done more than just cool his opponent off. It should have left him frozen in place, a brittle figure of a halfing to be snapped in two by the tentacles.

Tentacles attempt to grapple Frizznik 6+17=23 vs. 19-2=17, success. Tentacles attempt to deal damage to Mr. Bojangles. 19+17=36 vs. 5-8=-3, success. Deals 3+4=7 damage to Mr. Bojangles.
Sword of Deception attacks Frizznik. 7+9=16 and 5+4=9 vs. AC 11, first attack hits, second misses. Deals 5 damage and inflicts a -2 cumulative penalty to Frizznik’s next save, reduced to -5 which is the maximum penalty.

Wait a minute! No, Frizznik wiggled free for a second there, but another tentacle quickly caught him again. He is closer to the edge of the tentacles though.

One more lucky break and he may be out. But it also means leaving his familiar behind.

I’ll say one thing, the little Halfling has been able to take quite a lot of damage and remain on his feet.
