Duel Arcana: Round 2 Match 3

Yesterday was a good day for both of our sorcerers, but today one must fall!

They did surprisingly well considering they don’t have access to some of the most powerful spells at this level of dueling.

A fact which I know annoys you greatly, but they put on a good show and are a lot more fun at parties! Here is Casandrella and Frizznik!

Please send me a private message with your prepared spells, spells cast prior to the duel, what you will have in hand, what spell(s) you will cast on the first round, and what action you will take on the 2nd round (either prepare to counterspell or total defense).

Frizznik struts into the arena, and as the sound of the crowd breaks over him he puts his hands on his temples and grimmaces, slightly hung over from the night before. He shakes his head rapidly to clear it, and peers over at his opponent. His shrill voice rings out over the din of the crowd,

"Well, well well, this should be a spontaneous contest! Haha, get it?

As the crowd groans, he shrugs and waves his wand at himself, then digs both feet into the ground like a bull he once saw at a bullfight, stabs the wand into his belt, and turns his iciest stare on Casandrella, though it just makes him look ludicrous.

Casandrella once again weaves long lasting protective wards before stepping foot in the arena. She once again elicits lewd appreciation from the spectators.

The sorceress greets her opponent cordially this time. She now has a certain fondess for Frizznick after sharing drinks with him the night before.

She bows and awaits the opening round.

Looks like Fizznik is starting off with his wand.

He has given himself some False Life, considering the Rainbow Blasts that Casandrella was throwing around yesterday a little extra toughness may make the difference.

And Casandrella has disappeared.

I guess it worked for her last time, we will see if it serves her well in this duel as well.

Frizznik frowns as his opponent disappears, then giggles as a pun strikes him,

"Well, ladies and gentlemen," he says to the audience, "You're about to see a dazzling show!"

He then sprints forward and gets out a pinch of ground mica, which he tosses at the other end of the arena as he speaks the incantation.

Casandrella casts a dispel magic to stop the blinding dust from forming.

Round 3:
Frizznik moves and casts Glitterdust. Casandrella attempts to counter the spell with a Dispel Magic, which ends her invisibility spell. Spellcraft check is 11+15=26 vs. DC 17, success. Dispel check is 15+9=24 vs DC 20, success. Casandrella counters the spell.

Fizznik is charging forward and casting something!

Looks like he threw a glitterdust spell at Casandrella and she decided to counter it.

Probably didn’t want to risk being blinded.

The sorceress stays where she stands and produces a tiny piece of squid from her spell pouch. When she is finished gesturing in time with her nonsensical words she flings it aside in a fluid motion.

Many long black arms burst from the ground where Frizznik stands and reach to tear him apart limb by limb.

She then moves a short distance for a better view.

Casandrella casts Evard’s Black Tentacles and moves.
Frizznik and Mr. Bojangles attempts a grapple check to avoid the tentacles. 14-2=12 vs. 2+17=19, Frizznik is grappled by the tentacles. 6-8=-2 vs. 10+17=27, Mr. Bojangles is grappled.

Casandrella has responded quickly with a spell of her own.

Black Tentacles, that can be a tricky one for a wizard to escape from, or a sorcerer in this case. We’ll see if Frizznik can manage it.

Frizznik curses as the tentacles as big around as his waist grab hold of his small body. "Did you have to use rotten squid? peyew that stinks! So, how about a deal? If you let me out of these things I promise not to use glitterdust for the remainder of the duel, you can go invisible unhindered all you want!"

Frizznik attempts to convince Casandrella of the sincerity of his deal. 7+15=22 vs. 6+0=6, success. Casandrella believes that Frizznik would keep up his end of the bargin.
Frizznik attempts an Escape Artist check to escape from the tentacles. 6+4=10 vs. 12+17=29, fails.

Round 5:
Tentacles attempt to deal damage. 5+17=22 vs. 14-2=12, success. Deals 5+4=9 damage to Frizznik. 17+17=34 vs. 11-8=3, success. Deals 3+4=7 damage to Mr. Bojangles.

The tentacles are putting the squeeze on Frizznik, and he is trying to talk his way out of it!

Casandrella smiles playfully while she weaves her next spell. She focuses on Frizznick and unleashes three missiles made of force that streak through the tentacles avoiding contact with the flailing arms. They burn right through his robes and into his flesh.

Casandrella casts Force Missiles at Frizznik. Deals 7, 8, and 6 damage. The Force Missiles explode for half damage to Mr. Bojangles.

Casandrella is not willing to make a deal and she is speeding the process. Force missiles have blasted into Frizznik!

"How about single combat then? We each summon a monster, and I'll even use a lower level summons than you, they fight it to the death. If your monster wins I'll yield, if mine wins you can do whatever you want, just let me out of these godsforsaken stinking tentacles!!" The little halfling once again struggles to get out of the grasping arms.

Frizznik attempts to convince Casandrella of the sincerity of his deal. 14+15=29 vs. 10+0=10, success. Casandrella believes that Frizznik would keep up his end of the bargain.

Mr. Bojangles attempts an Escape Artist check to escape from the tentacles. 20+2=22 vs. 17+17=34, fails.

Tentacles attempt to deal damage. 10+17=27 vs. 1-2=-1, success. Deals 5+4=9 damage to Frizznik. 3+17=20 vs. 10-8=2, success. Deals 1+4=5 damage to Mr. Bojangles.

Frizznik is still talking, but he is not making much progress in trying to escape from those tentacles. If he doesn’t figure a way out soon this duel will be over.

Casandrella launches another spat of force missiles ignoring Frizznick's plea for a lapse in the offensive. She stays where she's at.

I think it is just about over for Frizznik.

Well he can't get out of those tentacles! That's his problem.

Archmage Odepheron casts Greater Dispel Magic at the tentacles. 20+15=35 vs. DC 20, success, Evard’s Black Tentacles are dispelled.

That’s it folks! The match is over! Casandrella has won the day.

She countered Fizznik’s opening spell then hit him with her best spell right off. That pretty much ended the match.

As dangerous as she is beautiful let’s hear it for Casandrella!
