View Full Version : Duelist Dormitory

This college dormitory has been set aside for the Duel Arcana to temporarily house the duelists. While rather mundane for the world's foremost arcane academy, it is comfortable, with a common room, dinning hall and kitchen available for the duelists to relax and refresh themselves before their next duel.
You may use this thread for in-character actions and conversations between the duels.

Tsao Tshu wakes up with a splitting headache.
"Ugh," he says to no one in particular, "My head hasn't hurt like this since Master Lee demonstrated the flurry of blows technique for the class on me."
He stands up from the bed he awakened on, but finds it too painful and has to sit back down. He settles for crawling accross the room to where he sees a pitcher. Grateful to find it is full of cold water, he drinks deeply and begins to feel slightly better. Feeling slightly refreshed, he walks haltingly out to the common room.
"Must react faster in the future," he mutters to himself, and conscious of the looks of pitty mingled with scorn he is getting from several of the others in the room, sits down facing a wall to meditate.

Rasca comes to shortly after the match. He finds Audhild, and makes sure she is ok. "Next time it won't be so tough......hopefully. We'll have to get our friends in on the action if we want any chance of winning." Rasca shakes his head and continues, "one, maybe two more spells and we could have had it. It was those darn skeletons. At least we get to continue with the tournament. We can't afford another lose, though....."
Rasca trails off, and goes into a trance. He comes out shortly to watch the strategies of his future opponents. After the last match, he retreats to his room. He is not seen until the morning. However, odd cackling, laughing, and noises come out of his room in no specific pattern all night.

Stretching, Gimbal enters his community lodging, and sits down near the fire. Seeing a few sullen faces, Gimbal laughs, perhaps a bit loudly, and begins perusing through his spellbook. He'll set it down, and feed and help preen Whisper, and, nodding, will fetch them both some supper.
Gimbal, will, of course, enquire as to winners and losers, but really, it's not all that important, until he hears that the ascetic in the corner died this morning.
"Hmm... Well, I suppose that some people will just flaunt power whenever they can. Good Tsao, next time something tells you to die, don't listen. Those types of phantasms are deadly, but only if you let them. Meditate upon that truth, while I have a smoke."

More than just a bit pleased by how well the first competition went, Loopy makes a spectacle of himself for most of the evening, challenging all comers to card and dice games.
"Come on now. Its just a bit of fun. The perfect way to relax after how hard you all had to work today."

"Good sir, er, Loopy, I'll be glad to enjoy my evening losing in dice to such a trickster as yourself. Roll the bones, my good man, roll the bones."

Darek sat in the corner in a high back chair. Wreaths of pipe smoke circled about his head and his familiar, a large black rat, was seated on top of the back of the chair.
"It shall be most interesting to see who I have to face first in this tourney," he mutters darkly. "Most interesting indeed."

Casandrella saunters into the lounging area in good spirits.
This day has been entertaining to say the least, and many lessons have been learned by all participants. The next round will be much nastier methinks...
"Games of chance always invigorate me boys, do ye have room for a lady?"

With a pleasant grin, Gimbal stands and pulls out a chair for Cassadrella.
"I always have room for a lady."

Loopy is about to pull a little harmless prank on the newest arival to the game table when Gimbal ruins the oppotunity by getting a real chair for Cassadrella.
Oh, well. I'll get the next one.
"So, what shall it be? A little Three Dragon Ante, or something a bit more risque? Say Nymph's Kiss? Or maybe something with really high stakes like Dragon Hoard?"

Rasca walks in, and quickly turns back around to go watch the other duels. After they are all over, he retreats back to his room and is not seen again. Just like before, weird noises come out of his room at all hours. This time, however, they seem a little........cheerful, if thats possible.
On the inside, Rasca is in deep conversation with his friends of the Far Realm. Together, they are forming strategy and discussing who will see action and who will not.

Rasca comes in exuberant from his match. He sits down at the bar, and has a few drinks before returning to his room to prepare for the next round.
"This one was tough," he says on his way to the room. "I hope I don't have any more like it. Hope not to have to use tentacles again either...." His door then shuts, and the mumbling from within begins.

Bitter at the result of his match, especially since he hadn't been able to do anything during the match, Loopy sits down and starts pouring over the tournament rules. After some time, he sits up and immediately goes to complain to the tournament officials. His opponent had cheated!

OOC: The post is late, but it needs to be done.
Before anyone has a match, Rasca comes down from breakfast, and hears that his last opponent has filed a complaint against him. He quickly finishes his meal and finds the little illusionist.
"I'm sorry it was ruled one way before the match, and now another afterward. If you would like, we can have a rematch after the tournament is over. We may just have to fight again, in the tournament proper. I only offer this because I hold high respect for you, as an arcanist. I don't what anyone to die from this, but what must be done, must be done. Do try to keep in mind it is all for fun."
With this, he offers a handshake of friendship. It is firm like most dwarves, and sincere as can be.

Even though the decision had been in his favor, Loopy is still upset over losing a match. Though it's more with himself than his opponent. He practically ignores his previous day's opponent's attempt at an apology and stalks off towards the ring where his match awaits him.

Odepheron and Sister Bessin walk into the Dormitory after the match, talking animatedly about the outcome. Once inside the stop and look around.
My it is sure quite in here.
Indeed, in my day the place would have been a wreak by now. The detritus of late night celebrations and scorch marks from bragging spell-casters would have been everywhere. Not to mention the women-of-questionable-morals that always found there way in.
Well, we can be thankful for somethings at least, but still it is a rather grim bunch this year.
