Post your characters here. Character submissions must be in by Sunday, March 19th. There will be a review period while I check characters for errors and matches will start on Monday, March 27th.

Character Creation
All characters must be arcane casters with a caster level of at least 7th level, must be able to cast 4th level arcane spells, and have the ability to counterspell.
Characters will be built using the Point Buy rules and will have 32 points. Attribute adjustments due to age will not be allowed.

Hit Points will follow the RPGA standard (max on first HD, half die size +1 for rest).
Characters will start with 36,500 Experience Points. This will effectively give you a 9th level character, but extensive use of Item Creation feats could lower you to 8th level.
Standard equipment will be allowed. You will have 36,000gp to spend and all items must be under 10,000gps (market price) except that you may have one ability enhancing item of +4. So you could have a Headband of Intellect +4 (16,000gps) and all other items would be worth 10,000gps or less.
Items will be limited to what is available in the allowed resources. You may not use the item creation rules to make unique items.
Items or abilities that cast or mimic spells above 5th level are not permitted.
One-use items will be limited to no more than 5000gp in total value.
Charged items must be purchased fully charged (wands, staves, etc.)
Item creation feats may be used to save money, but XP must be spent and may effectively lower your level. You must be of the correct level or higher to create an item.
If your character requires a spellbook you get free spells added to your book as given for your class. Any additional spells must be scribed into the book at the cost of 100gps per page/level.
Allowed resources: Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide, Monster Manual, Complete: Adventurer, Complete: Arcane, Complete: Divine, Complete: Warrior, Spell Compendium and the SRD. Note: The current Errata and FAQ will be used.
It is encouraged, though not required, to make complete characters with a personality and perhaps a little history (no need to write a novel though http://www.online-roleplaying.com/forums/images/smilies/smiley%20-%20wink.gif ).
This is supposed to be fun. With that in mind anyone may object to a character that seems unbalanced before the duels starts. I will review the character and will have final say on which characters may join the contest.
If you wish you may provide a picture of your character to be used in the duels. They should be 40x40 in size. If not I will try to reduce them to fit, but I make no guarantees.The city of Remmel has long been the magical capital of the world. Home of the prestigious Arcane College, many wizards the world over have traveled to the city in the hopes of furthering their studies. Even those whose powers derive from a different source find much to help them in their profession at Remmel. Items of magic are available with an ease that is unheard of in even the largest of cities.
The power of the Arcane College is renowned, so when Chancellor Arcatus announced that the College would be holding a Duel Arcana at the Winter Festival this year there were few who practiced the Art that failed to take notice. You are one of the few that have answered the call.

Rasca was thought crazy by everyone with 10 miles of his home when he started studing the ways of the arcane. He is now most certifiably so. He laughs at odd moments, and has "that crazy look" in his eyes. He has a heart full of good, however. It just doesn't always shine through. Rasca isn't seen associating with the best crowd, but he helps all, no matter what. Those that have seen him fight are usually afraid of him. He summons what he only refers to as "friends". Everyone else calls them "hideous beasts" or "inhuman monstrosities". Rasca likes them, and hopes Audhild will someday be like them.

Rasca has little need for money, having given into the far realms and their creatures. He keeps some money on him, but leaves most where he finds it. Usually, he can go back to previously visited areas and get money if need be.

When he sees the notice about the tournament he is very intrigued. "We can show off our powers Audhild." She chimes in, adding "And our friends, brother." Rasca laughes lightly and a smile alights his ruff face. "Ah, yes. Can't forget our friends." He then goes out to find the person he needs to see to sign up.

Attach (Ex): If a weasel hits with a bite attack, it uses its powerful jaws to latch onto the opponent’s body and automatically deals bite damage each round it remains attached. An attached weasel loses its Dexterity bonus to Armor Class and has an AC of 12. An attached weasel can be struck with a weapon or grappled itself. To remove an attached weasel through grappling, the opponent must achieve a pin against the creature.
Skills: Weasels have a +4 racial bonus on Move Silently checks and a +8 racial bonus on Balance and Climb checks. They use their Dexterity modifier for Climb checks. A weasel can always choose to take 10 on a Climb check, even if rushed or threatened.


Frizznik is a playful little halfling, obsessed with good food and brightly colored clothing. He is also lazy to a fault, prefering to let anyone or anything do work on his behalf. He prestidigitates nearly every meal he eats to make it taste better, because his actual cooking skills leave something to be desired. His mouth often gets him in trouble, though his nimble feet and quick mind just as often get him out of it. He has entered this grand tournament because he has never even seen one before, much less participated in one, and quite frankly the thought of being the target of a multiplicity of new spells was just too enticing an idea to resist.

Darek was one of the midlevel instructors at the Academy, constantly passed over for promotion in favor of those less likely to try and destroy the school in a fit of rage or to corrupt the more powerful students. He had had enough, he had. He would show the Academy, he would show them that the Defenstrating Sphere was worthwhile magic and that he could more than hold his own against any other. He stroked the fur on his familiar. “We will show them all, Squeekums, now won’t we?”

Darek is immensely tall, but rather frail for all that. He tends to rely on magic for most of his day to day needs and thus has let his body sag more than it should. His eyes are constantly bloodshot from studying, and his fingers stained with ink though his nails are long and hard. Its rumored that his massive mane of black and iron grey hair is really a nest for his familiar, and that is not far from the truth. His beard, which hangs down to his chest, is of a similar color and is typically a tangled mess.
He always wears his robes of red with black trim.

No, Gimbal doesn’t care for big booms, for turning into a dragon, or calling on the powers of the heavens – any monkey with a stick can do that. That isn’t the challenge. The challenge is bringing to bear a person’s own mind, his own imagination, fears, and misconceptions against him. More to the point, what is the purpose of tearing the very fabric of existence to just set something on fire, when you can convince, unequivocally, a person, that he’s on fire. It’s far more efficient, and hey, you didn’t just burn those hedges down, either.

This is just the type of challenge for which Gimbal looks forward. He’s no physical specimen, though he’s handsome enough, in that whippet sort of way, and he takes care to groom and bathe at least monthly, but he’s not going to get into a fistfight with anyone. Who does that, really? Troglodytes…

Gimbal always dresses to travel, as, well, he sort of has to travel a lot. As an entertainer, he’s suspect, though through his craft he’s able to make a good living. He’ll set up illusory edifices for patrons for a reasonable cost, and he’s been known to travel with groups of entertainers as well. This will be a nice diversion, certainly, though, really, who can hope to really compete?
