I think I have seen someone else on this board with pretty much the same idea but anyway. I was thinking about holding battles between PC's and myself or just PC's against each other in combat situations maybe a colosseum battle or forest battle and stuff like that. PC's will start at 1st level and gain levels in pretty much the same way as a normal PC would. But before I ask for a forum to hold this thing I want to see what you all think?

Check the Pit or the Gauntlets...

SponkleofInfini

Yeah I am currently in the gauntlets and I have checked out the pit but I don't think they are taking on people at the time being

Cadrius

I thought I read the Gauntlets had two or three positions open now. Although I don't think that has the PC-killing action you're looking for.

SponkleofInfini

I think gauntlets only has one position available now but I am already in it so eh.

Dosen't look like many people are intersted........ohwell I should change that to no one is interested. I shall wash my hands of this

The Pit is actually player vs. player but its Email, turn-based with the controller or DM thingie-guy posting the outcomes as cryptically as possible. Generally PC's dont know where other PC's are, thus its not posted however, sounds, smells, and sightings are posted (provided everyone heard, smell or saw whatever).

Yeah I as thinking of doing something similar to that.

On another board, I know someone had put together (with reasonable turnout) a mage-battle royal that worked out pretty well also. I'd be interested in something like this, although starting at 1st level is a little too mundane I believe for getting people interested. At LEAST 5th level I think would be good, but then I'm not sure I remember the comparison math I did on classes, but I think 5th was actually a very uneven level. First is definitely too low, unless you're planning to level every match.

Just a few coppers for the hat!

SponkleofInfini
27th of June, 2002, 14:20
Yeah, I am very willing to start it out at that level, maybe even a little higher.

Cadogan Trahem
27th of June, 2002, 14:44
For Player vs. Player you need to be on high levels otherwise it turns into who wins initative and hits thier opposing player.

5th-10th level start. How does that tickle eveyones fancy.

Yep definately, Only 6 positions left.

ok it's level 7 start, 36 point buy, no more then 1 18 or 2 16's etc etc. Standard starting gold of a character of 7th level. pretty much any magical items are allowed from the sources i have mentioned as long as you can afford them etc etc.

If you have any further questions just post them or you can send me ("s_hartshorne01@hotmail.com)an email with any inquiries

Hi Sponkle, count me in please. I'll work up a (un)nice character quickly. Although, 7th level, it's requires some thinking.

Skreem
28th of June, 2002, 09:31
Count me in! Hmm.. 7th huh? What are the rules for advancing? Or is it just going to stay 7th?

Is it "to the death", with special circumstances? Or is it beat a challenge? Makes a difference the type of character to make.

SponkleofInfini
28th of June, 2002, 12:03
ok thats 2 more, that leaves only 4 positions.

About Templates, You can use any templates that come from the sources I have allowed as long as they don't surpass the allowed starting level of 7. All templates will count towards your level though.

Monsterous races may also be taken but the same rules apply ecl cannot pass 7 and must come from the sources I have mentioned.

You will advance like a normal character of your level getting the same exp you would normally depending on challenge. I don't know how far this will progress to because with the epic level handbook coming out soon it could go on for a very long time if people maintain interest.

Depending on what type of challenges I create you may be fighting another PC to the death or in special scenarios with other pcs. Your character won't die but won't gain exp for that challenge and hence won't progress as quickly and will remain on a lower division until you gain enough exp to go up and progress.

You will gain exp, and gold for winning challenges which can be used to buy services and items etc.

When I think of more things I will post them, just keep posting the questions you have and I will do my best to answer them.

Hrm, care if I join with a hobgoblin barbarian?

Could I talk you into using all class guide books, cause Masters of the Wild is a must have for barbarians :)

Another little question, will there be a maximum allowed amount of money spend on one particular item (like 1/4th of initial starting gold PER item)? In all the games I've been in (although none of those have been PvP), a similar rule has been in place to reflect that a character has actually progressed from lvl 1 to lvl X, and thus never had the full amount of starting gold available all at the same time.

SponkleofInfini
28th of June, 2002, 17:26
Yep you can join

To answer your questions

I don't have masters of the wild unfortunately thats why I haven't included it as of yet, if you want to use it you will have to send me an email of any abilities or prestige classes derived from that book that you use so I have a copy, and to just know what something is.

Thanks for bringing up the question about max money that can be spent per item, no more then a quarter of your gold can be spent on an item to start with.

As for starting gold it will be the standard for a 7th level character.

Only 3 positions left if anyone else is interested.

Let me just recap on who is in

Actually, it's not really a lot I need for this character (it's an existing character that seems to be perfect for this): a maul (comes from FRCS and basically is a large hammer) and a caber (think huge thrown trunk).

I'll give you the stats later on.

O O O I must play:-) I want to get a chance to kill Lee and Beid if he joins. Killing CT would be nice but he is easy to kill.

Its Ms. Pedonecrophiliac to you. And she has a MW dagger. Say that to her army of undead.

ah 2 more people to add to the slaughter pit. Looks like there is only 1 more position, If the response continues to be quite good I may open more positions.

I may allow that weapon from the FRCS but I don't want a barrage of request coming from the FRCS I haven't got the books nor will get them and don't really want them in this thing.

I have requested a private forum for this and I am in the process of just waiting for it so hopefully this can start soon.

I'm giving you that forum the moment you are certain that you have all your players prepped and ready (I don't want to start forums for games that either never start, or immediatly die *mutters at Beidamon*).

And don't worry, I'm not going to request tons of stuff from the FRCS. It's just that the maul only appears in that particular WotC resource.

I'm planning to use it twohanded, it deals 1d10 and has a critical hit multiplier of 3. It's a martial weapon with an appropiate price.

The caber from Masters of the Wild is a bit more special. It basically is a trunk (weighing 100 lbs - thus not very suited for non-barbarians) with some small spikes on it. When thrown at an enemy (or group of enemies), there's a few calculations to be made (haven't got the book here, so will indulge you once at home), and then the enemies are driven backwards as per the bull rush rules (or at least similar to that rule). If there is a wall or other obstacle preventing them from moving backwards, they'll receive damage. Most situations will make the use of the caber far from attractive when trying to cause damage, but it is very IN character :)

Also, will this game include (limited) role playing, or will it just be mere statistics of a fight?

I can scan and send the page with the weapon stats from FRCS on it if you want Sponkle.

LeeCHeSSS
28th of June, 2002, 21:22
I can no longer scan pages..., stupid windows XP for not having ANY drivers for my scanner (now I know why it was only 100 guilders).

But if you want, I'll go out and buy a new scanner so I can send you the page from MotW and FRCS :)

Anyway, my real reason to post: Will you allow it if I change the name and looks of magic items? For example, my guy'll be wearing a kilt. Now if you know a bit about kilts, they don't usually have pockets, so they come with those little fluffy bags hanging in front of the wearer's private parts. Having a Bag of Holding that looks like such a sporran (name of the fluffy bag), would make me very happy :)

TheDruid20

Will we be allowed to make our own items? IE use the item creation feats?

SponkleofInfini
29th of June, 2002, 09:53
ok, takes a deep breath

Now Yes you may have those weapons you wanted for the barbarian.

Yes there will be roleplaying involved as much as possible I hope it will make it much more interesting.

ok it makes it easier for me if you keep the original names but you can rename them if you want as long as you tell me the name of the item originally and what it is now. If you want a kilt you can have it. as for the sporran being a bag of holding thats fine as long as you note all the above for me in your character sheet.

Yes you will be able to make your own items via item creation feats. there will be time between scenarios where you can do that but only one between scenarios. Normal rules apply such as exp loss and costs ascosciated still apply.

If any of you are taking monster races feats and stat increases go up like a normal pc, ecl+level.

As for starting I have some scenarios ready just waiting for the go ahead, and for the pc's if you arn't already ready that is, tell me if you have your characters finished.
