Gladiator Loser's Bracket Match 6

Magic and might. Mystics and swordplay. Both of this match's competitors mix a little magic in their fighting style.

That's right, and not just any type of magic, but arcane magic.

Now, that may seem like a bit of a contradiction in a gladiator tournament, as arcane casters generally aren't know for their combat skill, but both of these competitors break that mold and prove that a little arcane magic can really turn a fight around.

Indeed, but these two mix in magic in diffrent ways. Callen has the blood of dragons running through his veins, and for him, magic is just the spice that adds zest to the dish. Lily dances her way through the Weave in a way that elves have been practicing for millenia.

Which method will prove superior? We're about to find out, because its win or go home for both competitors.

Lily starts her dance as always, images parting and joining in time with her movements. While some in the crowd may tire of it, her dedicated fans expect no less. Her movements carry her away from her opponent and she ends with a flourish.

"May the fates favor you this day, Master Silver," Lily calls out. "I have watched your matches with interest and you are an honorable man. I look forward to our dance."

Callen takes in his surroundings, then runs forward and leaps on to a platform. His greatsword whirls around him in a display of swordsmanship.

"Kind words Miss Moonsong," Callen replies jovially. "Your own matches have had their own merits, and I admit to watching with interest. I too look forward to this match, we will see if my strength is a match for your agility."

Move to E5, use Perform: Weapon Drill to influence the audience.

Callen, however, isn't having as much luck impressing the crowd. His moves with the greatsword just don't seem to draw the reaction that Lily's dancing does.

Ah! The repeat performance wasn't quite as good as the original. But the spell damage will certianly help out.

Callen grunts in pain as the bolts sear into him. "No need for apologies Miss Moonsong, I expected no less." He then sheathes his sword and casts a spell of his own, though his is much less exciting.

Hmm. That was probably a good move on Callen's part, as the spell he cast will prevent Lily from using the magic missiles on him that were so effective against his other opponents, but I'm not sure why he put his sword away.

"Well you started off with a little heat. I think I will opt for cold." So saying Callen leaps down from his perch and strides towards Lily. He stops well short of her and with a tremendous heave of his lungs waves of frost issue from his open mouth.

Lily flinches from the cold and suppresses a shiver. "Turn about is fair play after all," Lily says with a smile. Unsatisfied to remain stationary, Lily continues to dance. Her steps take her south, around a high platform and back onto a low one. She finishes by calling up a shield identical to Callen's.


Move to J4, I5, H6, G6, H7. Dancing the whole way, use Tumble to assist. Cast Shield.

"Now that the formalities are over I think it is time to get down to business," Callen runs to intercept Lily as she jumps on her platform. "Now which is the real Lily?" Callen takes a snap at one of the Lilys' ankles.

Remaining on her platform Lily's dance takes on a different tone, resembling the moves of a monk than that of a dancer. Her blade slashes down at the big man confronting her.

"Well then, you will have to charge me for a few more rounds." Callen slashes at the images of Lily, trying to whittle them down. He then steps back in order to force Lily to abandon her high ground advantage if she wishes to continue.

I don't know whether to call that good luck or bad. Callen only hit one image, but he also only hit one image. His two claw attacks against Lily couldn't make it through her defenses.

Lily accepts Callen's challenge and gives chase, but not the way he expects. She lightly steps onto the wall next to her and runs across it. She jumps and rolls at the last minute to end up on the platform to Callen's right and attacks once more with her rapier.

Move to E6, then to E5, balancing along the wall and tumbling to avoid AoOs. Attack Callen with rapier striking to subdue. In this case she will use tumble to impress the crowd.

Callen nods at the words of the commentators. His attack against Lily was not some much good or bad luck, but ill-timed luck. He hit Lily when he wanted to reduce images. Then there was her response, he really was not expecting Lily's move across the wall. Still, it limited her number of attacks. Face set with determination, he lashes out with his natural weapons once more then moves back the way he came.

"So you found me at last," Lily says with a smile, "How would you like to try again?" She casts another spell while her sword keeps Callen at bay. More images of Lily appear around the Bladesinger. She then rolls off the platform and begins to circle around.

Cast Mirror Image on the defensive, take 10. Tumble away and move to G3. Use Perform: Dance to influence crowd.

Seeing multiple Lily's once again, Callen just sighs and shrugs in defeat. "Nay fair lady, I am not really a gambling man. I will concede that you have the upper hand. With the way my luck has been running I feel it best to stop before someone is truly hurt," at this Callen grins, "Most likely myself."

"Are you sure you will not continue Master Callen?" Lily smiles back.
Callen just shakes his head. "You win the day and I wish you the best in the future. Please be careful." Callen Draws his sword and salutes Lily before making his way off the field.

Lily salutes back, then turns and salutes the crowd.

Aww... Just when things were begining to get interesting.

Maybe interesting, but you have to admit that this was mostly a show match at this point. With even more false Lilys to deal with and Lily's protective magics, Callen wasn't going to get very many hits in. He was more of a slapping pole for Lily's rapier.
