Most of the time I'm in a pbp I'm DMing, so I will again here. I'm taking 3-5 players for another oddball game I pulled out of my a**. Start at level 4, 48 point buy stats, 8200 gp starting gold. PHB and PsiHB classes are allowed (Slight ranger variant). Any odd races or templates within level +2 can be taken. Any good or neutral alignment can be taken. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Any prestige classes you can get, you can take. First level is maxed, others are 50% of max. The same applies to any enemies bright enough to take a class.
The working title of the game is "Project: Shadowknight". It will run to about level 10, maybe more (Depending on player reaction to the game).

I haven't seen anyone respond to you in a hostile way; so you're quite welcome.
Maybe the people who frequent my board don't share your ideas of fun, and therefor don't respond to your game proposals.
You're not the only one who experienced that problem; take a look at Beidamon. He hit the jackpot with his 3rd or 4th game proposal. So maybe you could try again, but with another theme.

You'd also garner more interest if you gave more information regarding the game itself. Right now you have all the mechanics but none of the story to draw players in.
My PBP plate is quite full at the moment, but given the right combination of DM, story, and players I could always be pursuaded to join one more.

You know, you're both quite right. Thanks you two. As for prospective players, here's the story:
An entire graveyard decimated, with hundreds of interred bodies missing. That was a month ago. Now, the first sign of the corpses has been noted. Armored, armed, and teeming with unholy energies, the dead have been spotted three miles outside of the city. With them occasionally seen are humanoid, garbed in rusty black. Today, there are three living creatures on the side of the dead, a new number for this organization. Something is going on, and if left unchecked, no one is quite sure what will befall the realms...

I think there the problem here is that this board has a relative small number of people, while still nearly 100, its small compared to a grand scale.
Most of these people are in/run multiple games already and thus we're seeing a shortage of players for new games (one of the many reasons no one has been joining up to many games lately).
Possible solutions of course include increased awareness through comercialisation. So if anyone runs a website reguardless of how vague it is add a link to the main page and hopefully we might get some new people stumbling here out of interest and staying.
Another possible solution is to advertise PBP games on other more visited boards, such as the WOTC board.
In Short; we have a shortage of fresh unburden players, and we need more. :(
BigRedRod
7th of June, 2002, 22:16
Yeah it's quite a problem
But the site is gaining new members at a good rate so this problem should dissapear eventually
enworld might be a good place to advertise a game, although i haven't used their forums
DakkonDarkBlade
8th of June, 2002, 00:40
yeah and there is always 3EBB I usualy get pretty good responses to games when I post about them there In fact most of the recruits for my new game that I will be starting as soon as I get a forum here came from there.

I won't give the ranger a lot of stuff, but I've made him to be the most customizable character. Here's what I have changed:
Favored Enemy: May have either an offensive or defensive bonus.
-Offensive: As PHB.
-Defensive: Bonus applies to Hide and Move silently instead of damage, Bluff, and Sense Motive checks. Also, favored enemy bonus can be used as a dodge bonus to AC against favored enemy.
-Urban Ranger: Switch Track feat for Shadow, Switch Animal Empathy and Knowledge (nature) for Gather Information and Knowledge (local). You may choose an organization instead of a race.
Same Race Enemy: As a group of subraces. For example, an elf could choose Drow, which includes drow, driders, chitines, and choldriths (creations of Lolth).
VERY specific: One kind of creature (Example: Kobold). Get double the favored enemy bonus, but others of type (reptilian humanoid) are unaffected.
Virtual Feats: You may either keep the two-weapon fighting feats, or exchange the set for one of these below (This is not a complete list. Ask me if you want something else)
-Expertise/Improved Disarm/Improved Trip
-Improved Unarmed Strike/Deflect Arrows/Stunning Fist
-Mounted Combat/Mounted Archery/Trample
-Point Blank Shot/Far Shot/Precise Shot
-Power Attack/Cleave/Improved Bull Rush
-Great Fortitude/Iron Will/Lightning Reflexes (Why not?)
-Exotic Weapon Proficiency/Weapon Focus/Weapon Finesse (If possible with selected weapon)
This is a base list, using only the PHB. Any variations must be cleared by me (95% chance I'll accept if it's reasonable). Also, the 9th-level feat is a virtual feat, like the first two, useable only in light armor.
BTW I have access to all five class supplements. If you don't and want to know (Lotsa new ranger spells in MotW), just ask.
DakkonDarkBlade
9th of June, 2002, 11:20
the ranger varient sounds pretty cool but I think in this case I'll stick with my undead hunter.
Setzer Gabbiani
10th of June, 2002, 14:54
Once more thing about the ranger. With the introduction of greater two-weapon fighting (MotW), the ranger recieves this as another virtual feat at level 15. This adds a 4th feat to the bonus set.
And Dakkon, I can't seem to find the feat "Foe Hunter". Do you mean Supernatural Blow? That requires a favored enemy.
The_Friendly_Fiend
10th of June, 2002, 16:07
Setzer, the Foe Hunter feat is in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting book. If you need the description, you might have Dakkon e-mail it to you for approval.
DakkonDarkBlade
11th of June, 2002, 01:53
yeah its in FR and I would be happy to email it to you for approval if you like.
Setzer Gabbiani
13th of June, 2002, 04:14
Probably should have tried FR earlier. Wait a minute... Foe Hunter is based on region. You can't take a feat and completely copy the ranger's favored enemy for an entire race. Look at the examples -- all narrow... Tell you what, pick a more narrowly defined section of undead (Skeletons, zombies, vampires, incorporeal, etc.) and I'll let you take it, though it really wasn't designed for anything more than an area threat.
DakkonDarkBlade
13th of June, 2002, 05:37
sorry I meant to be more specific Zombies
Cadogan Trahem
13th of June, 2002, 13:02
There is a small place in the Western Heartlands called "The Battle of Bones"
Im not sure if it has foe hunter as a regional feat, but it most certainly does apply for the common threat.
Me being a FR fantatic thought he would mention this, Me also trying to get more posts then TheDruid20 was tempted to post and failed his Will Save. ;)
Setzer Gabbiani
14th of June, 2002, 01:16
Zombies it is. Now all I need is 2-4 more players.
It might also be worth noting that you have a +2 Dex bonus, but you have full plate (+1 max) in your equipment. Should I switch the Int 12 for the Dex 14?
Setzer Gabbiani
19th of June, 2002, 04:16
In case anyone's wondering, I'm still open for 2-4 more players.

Yes, standard gold for 4th level. HP is max first, 1/2 others.
Any class is fine. This makes 2 so far (Not including an indecisive itches, who is welcome). I have a paladin and a fighter, so muscle is covered. I'll welcome another fighter if someone wants it though.

8200 gp starting gold.
hang on a minute, what is the starting gold 8200? i thought it was 5200. Or am i completly off the rails here? Whats that rash?

I noticed that little problem yesterday when making my character, I thought eh he said 8200GP so that is how I made him. Geeze I hope it remains 8200GP
Setzer Gabbiani
20th of June, 2002, 10:56
My bad -- it is 8,200 gp. I origionally had a much higher level of power in mind, but I changed that. The starting gold stays at 8,200 though.

Of course you can be a Gnomish wizard here SpoonyBard :D . That makes four of you, so just post your character and we'll get this started. Of course, all of you will have to work through the lack of a high-level healer, but I'm sure you can manage. Just don't hassle the paladin *too* much ;) .
