Hargin was born in a little mine in a little valley, up amongst the Lican mountains. Mining Iron ore of moderate quality, the inhabitants lived an insular and plain life, much as their fathers, and their fathers' fathers had before them.

Even amongst such a community, Hargin was nothing special. He wan't overly strong, and never had occasion to demonstrate great courage. He was intelligent, though he received little schooling, and good enough with his hands to become a craftsman's apprentice.

As the years passed, Hargin realised that he wanted more from his life. He had a steady job making pick-axes and repairing pulley gears, and everyone said that, given a couple more decades, he would be a fine smith. Hargin wanted more.
He had discovered through his work, a fascination with engineering and mechanical gubbinz. In his spare time he played with locks and clocks and clock-work toys. He built cunning mechanisms that would double the efficiency of a mine pulley, and even experimented with a mine-cart powered by steam! The mine elders of course, would never let him test them, but he was certain of their efficacy.

One day, Hargin decided that enough was enough, that he had mended his last shovel. He packed a bag, stuffed it with food and supplies and left, taking only his axe (never used, an antique heirloom from his great-grandsire) and his cross-bow (modified personally with an intricate system of gears that made winching back the string twice as easy [see rapid reload feat]).

Leaving the Lican mountains behind, Hargin set out into the world, looking for someone who could appreciate his expertise.

Hargin is short and wiry (as Dwarves go), with a fussily combed and trimmed black beard and a prematurely balding head (possibly caused by his incessant head-scratching when confused or bored). He wears a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles (home-made of course), which he swears are only for reading small text, and peers over them at the rest of the world.

A fussy, often pedantic Dwarf, Hargin is happiest when underground, fiddling with some complex mechanism (which he may, or may not actually comprehend). As such, it was only natural that he ended up working for one of the numerous Dragoon guilds, shuffling around abandoned ruins disabling traps and locks, dreaming of the day he finds a Dragoon of his very own to take apart.

Plot Hooks for Mr.Tim's perusal:

-Hargin wants to play with the inside of a Dragoon, and will take steps to gain the necessary skills if given the opportunity. He's not likely to care who that opportunity comes from...

I'll post some more when they occur to me.
