The cube is an artifact of great power. What that power actually is has never really been decided.

The item is of great interest to the Wizards of the Citadel. Two warring political factions within the Citadel are at odds over what to do with the item. One faction (Ysene's) wants to use it, the other (Gemoud's) wants to contain it.

Cadogan Trahem recovered the item, but was then spirited off to the Citadel by Ysene's group, who are now in possession of the cube. In order to function properly, the Cube requires a catalyst - the Runestone, a stone that fits within a depression on one side of the Cube.

Wizards of the Citadel. Heh.

This is faintly relevent, but the Cube that Ysene's group has is a fake. But I suppose I should create a chapter plot arc thread to go into detail about it there.

I'm not sure how it ought to be organized. I think most cube stuff ought to be in this thread, although the Runestone probably deserves a thread of it's own.

Let’s not be overcome with threads.

Okay, Cadogan's original plans for the Cube were that it was a map to a lost city in the desert, which reputably had a fountain that would heal people of anything.

Agreed. Suggestions on what rates its own thread are welcome.

And Cadogan's plan sounds familiar. He sent me the details way back when and I seem to have lost them. At any rate, I say we scrap his original idea about what it is (sorry Cadogan) and just make something up that we like.

Agreed.

I was going to steal the meat of it and adopt it for Nicos anyway.
