View Full Version : dare I make a suggestion

Hi

I don't know if this is a bug or not:
When I get messages saying a thread has been replied to it says that I will not receive another email until I have visited the site and viewed the messages. However, I actually do get one for every reply in the thread. Now I do have the email option selected in my profile. So maybe this is why I get it for each reply in the thread. But the message is misleading.

And a suggestion or question: Is there a way to notify people via subscribing to the forum to send them email when a new thread is started?

At the bottom of each thread there are 3 links, and one of them reads "Subscribe to this Thread". That should help you some :)

That's not the problem - I get plenty of emails about replies to thread. What I was wondering about was about receiving emails when new threads are started when you have subscribed to a forum.

To make sure people find a new thread when you create one, post in one they are currently active in with a link. Or just talk to them on an instant messenger, or send an email yourself. All three ways are simple.

Email notification is actually not at all a solid feature of vBulletin. It only sends mail when it sees fit (like CT getting mails from a thread that is inactive :P). Just wait till version 3 is out (I'm not gonna fix the problem myself) and likely they (Jelsoft) will have fixed/improved it.

One more suggestion that just stumped me, while attempting to delete a single post within a 30+ post thread, I had to go through all posts and select "Delete? No." Instead of just going to the post in question and selecting "Delete? Yes."

Is there anyway to change the default option to have all posts on No instead of Yes?

I know it is doable with a mySQL query. Will look into it when I feel better (parties have these nasty side effects...).

EDIT: Btw, Billy has pointed out to me that I should point out that you as a moderator can delete posts by "editing" them - it will show a checkbox & button at the top of the page with which you can delete the post.
