I'm working on a project at the moment, and I find myself in need of an extensive list of different gaming systems as I can manage to find.

Personally I'm not too experienced in the Wide World of RolePlaying, tending to stick to one thing once I find it, reluctant to try newer ones. I expect however, that the combined efforts of the community put together, should be able to put together an impressive array of them.

So there you have it, please post and share your knowledge of the roleplaying systems that you know of.

If it is also possible, could you post a link to any informative sites related to it?

Well, if you're referring to systems alone, not individual games, let's start with the big ones.
d20 (http://www.wizards.com/d20/)
Storyteller (http://www.white-wolf.com)
GURPS (http://www.sjgames.com/gurps)
Palladium (http://www.palladiumbooks.com)

And the not so big ones.
HERO (http://www.herogames.com/)
Tri-stat (http://www.guardiansorder.com/company/tristat.php)
Silhouette (http://www.dp9.com/)
FUDGE (http://www.fudgerpg.com/fudge/)
BRP (http://www.basicrps.com/indexen.html)
BEER Engine (http://www.9thlevel.com/index.html)
Unisystem (http://www.edenstudios.net/unisystem/)
CODA (http://www.decipher.com/lordoftherings/rpg/index.html)
FUZION (http://www.talsorian.com/linkfuzion.shtml)
Action! (http://http://www.action-system.com/)
Rolemaster (http://http://www.ironcrown.com/)

And then the games, which as far as I know, use their own system and do not share it with any other game:

7th Sea, Agone, Alternity, Amber, Arrowflight, Ars Magica, Blue Planet, Brave New World, Cartoon Action Hour, Children of the Sun, Classic Traveller, Deadlands, Earthdawn, Everlasting, Fading Suns, FATAL, Fvlminata, Ghostbusters, Godlike, Heroquest, HoL, In Nomine, Ironclaw, Kult, Legend of Five Rings, Little Fears, Mechwarrior, Nobilis, Over the Edge, Paranoia, QAGS, Red Dwarf, Riddle of Steel, Rune, SenZar, Shadowrun, Sorceror, Star Wars d6, Toon, Twilight 2000, Unknown Armies, Warhammer FRP, World of Synnibar

If I think of any more, I'll post them...

Fuzion (http://www.talsorian.com/linkfuzion.shtml) should be included in that 'not-so-big' list.

It'd be best to divide d20 up in all its various forms, including but not limited to Wheel of Time, Star Wars, D&D 3.0/3.5, d20 Modern and Call of Cthulhu.

Well, if that were the case, then we'd have to divide storyteller into all its various incarnations. The difference between d20 Star Wars and d20 Modern is about the same as the difference between Adventure! and Vampire.

Then I suppose you ought to include the various forms of D&D as well:
Classic
Basic (Holmes edition)
Basic (Moldvay/Cook edition)
Basic (Mentzer edition)
AD&D
AD&D 2e

no it wouldn't
those all use the same system

Tri-stat could do with being banged o nthe big list
I wouldn't say Palladium was really one of the big boys myself, but no matter I think mowens has all the bases covered

..., Classic Traveller, ...
And that's not even including Megatraveller, Traveller 2300, T4 Traveller, and Traveller: New Era, all of which used different systems.

My Traveller-fu is limited to CT. And apparently isn't all that powerful, since I've yet to have a character die during chargen.

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned Big Eyes Small Mouth considering how many of those games are being hosted here.

Then you can add Cyberpunk, and the various forms of Role Master (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Role Master, and Space Master), or you can just lump them all into I.C.E. Speaking about LOTR, there's the new Lord of the Rings RPG that uses a new d6 system. And then you have some older games like Toon, Gamma World, and Star Frontiers. One last fun game, Mutant Chronicles!

Forgot about Mutants & Masterminds.

Erm, considering the project is for me, I'm pretty sure it would be best...

Anyway, since Ross has other matters to worry about, this is moot - for now.

BESM is a Tri-Stat System.

Lord of the Rings is a D20 System.

As someone else already said, BESM is Tri-stat.
Cyberpunk is Fuzion, new LotR is CODA, Toon is on there, and Gamma World and Mutants and Masterminds are d20.

Old LotR is MERP, which I didn't see mentioned.

Next year we will see Amber DRPG 2.0, and later Amber D20.

I hope it's something like the best thing that happened to RPG markets ever.

This year we'll see the new World of Darkness, which may or may not use a variation of Storyteller. Rumors say that the system will be revised greatly.

I hope it's not too 'revised'... I love the ST system. Though I can't WAIT for the new WoD...

I don't care that much about the system, what intrigues me is the setting ... all new ... yummy ...

I can't honestly say. I couldn't bring myself to read all 900+ pages. I skimmed through it during one of the RPG.net flame wars and read the review (http://atrocities.primaryerror.net/fatal.html). And that's about all the consideration TGTMNBN gets from me.

NB: That other favorite dead horse, RaHoWa, did not make the list. That one isn't really a complete system.

I downloaded FATAL and read maybe half of it. It's REALLY as horrible and offensive as the rpg.net people are quick to point out.

It's been 100% confirmed that the new WoD will use a variation of the Storyteller system.

The target number will be set in stone(at least for the most part). What various bonuses, penalties, and difficulties will do is add or subtract from your dice pool, not the target number.

The core book will allow for the making of human characters. The point is to allow you to play out your characters BEFORE their big transformation(however it occurs) into one of the 3 bigs -- Vampires, Werewolves, or Mages.

The wording of the actual article this info was in was iffy, and most people suspect the word choices were made to throw people off of WW's actual plans. The above 2 things are the ONLY thing the article revealed with absolute certainty.

And yeah, breaking down d20 is kinda...bleah. You might as well break down Tri-Stat into its various games(they're as different as d20 Modern is to D&D really), or Unisystem into its various games, or Storyteller(which has already been mentioned) into its various incarnations, or even FUDGE(which has an ungodly number of games derived from it that could also be considered different systems). The same system with a few twists to give it a new "flavor" does not constitute a new system.

How about those:
Immortal RPG (old one...)
Ars Magica
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Call of Cthulhu (variation on basic I think)
Nobillis

that's what I could find of the top of my head.

Though I would pick up FFRPG in a hearbeat normally, they say they're finishing an overhaul to 3e.

Ars and Nobilis are on the list. TMNT&OS falls under Palladium, and was the first game I ever played. CoC falls under BRP.

Hey..new to the community, and just thought I'd add a game/system not already listed: Talislanta. I have been trying to find a group/Gm to run it, but my schedule is shift work, so....here I am
