Does anybody out there have any particular house rules that they'd like to propose? I'm not one for shifting gears in mid-swing so it's why I'm proposing it before we get too deep into the game. As it stands we've had months of oustanding roleplaying, but when it comes to getting into the meat of the story, the surface is only scratched. Thus it's still safe to make changes without going nuts.

So it's an open forum for any ideas you might have. I personally have toyed with doing a wounds/vitality system in place of hit points. It makes things grittier to match the feel of the setting.

I say we switch systems! Let's play Storyteller sytem! Midnight: The Angstening. Or, even better! (http://www.againsttheshadow.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=853)

Lessee, houserules I like to use (unfortunatly, most of these are character creation houserules, so a wee bit late);
* Dodge gives global +1 dodge bonus to AC.
* Feats don't ahve ability score reqs (eg, Power Attack doesn not need Str 13+).
* No class or cross-class skills; you can buy any non-exclusive skill for 1/rank.

Oooh, I like that.

Fascinating homebrew, but a wee-bit too late. The dodge is an actual possibility. I might take a page from Mutants and Masterminds and say it's either +2 vs one opponent or +1 vs all.

In regard to stat requirements for feats, well, I'm usually open to leeway there. Hell, if someone with a 12 strength really, really wants Power Attack we could probably work something out. The same goes for Expertise.

I don't know whether to hate him or stare unabashedly at his beauty.

You could always hate him for making you stare unabashedly at his beauty.

Other thoughts on house rules? The armor system is still a wrench in the gears for me, but I'm slowly developing something. At the moment I'm thinking what might work is this.

All classes have some sort of class bonus to their AC reflecting each having an overall ability to perform in combat. Armor itself might have its normal bonus split in half, with half going to DR and the other to an armor bonus only available to fighters and those taking the requisite feats. Thus it gives incentive to actually be a fighter. Moreover, if we did the proposed wounds/vitality system, armor would really take the edge off critical hits.

Of course I'd be better served to thoroughly test this upon my face to face group before bringing it into the pbp realm.

Well, he is the Bizzarro Cadrius. Ergo, everyhting opposite.

That system you propose sounds nif-tay!

I should remind you that Bizarro Cadrius is far less prone to violence when insulted.

Ahem.

Is anybody else reading this? I could use some input before I jam it into our game.

I'm all for anything that makes Aleina even more useless in a fight.

I finally persued your system the other day Dirigible. It seems interesting, although I must admit your post over at AtS leaves quite a bit to the imagination when it comes to how it actually works. Specifically character generation, combat, skills, etc. Even what dice are to be used seems a big vague. Was this intentional? Or did you grow weary of typing?

Conan D20 (well, Conan OGL) just came out and the armor system sounds very much like what you are hoping to implement here. Basically, characters get a defense bonus that reflects their ability to dodge blows. Armor grants DR, and each weapon has an armor piercing rating. Basically, you'll have a helluva hard time injuring a heavily armored dude with a dagger. I believe they also include rules for armor damage this way, which might be another interesting facet for Midnight.

Perhaps if you were to give me said information I might consider it before having you all killed horribly in the first violent encounter that greets you.

Right, well, I'd need the book for that and at $50 I still haven't decided it's worth it. If I had it, though, I'd probably even type it up all nice for you (all the content is OGL, so it'd be legal too). Still, if I see it somewhere I'll try and take good mental notes.

Then again, being OGL, someone is bound to type it up and put it on the internet sooner or later.

Hmm, I shall need to lay my eyes on this table. I should probably read it too.
