Background:
At the age of 14 Garland who was once known by a different name which is now forgotten was a dueling prodigy. Capable of defeating opponents double his age he achieved gempukku long before most other samurai do. Assigned as one of his lords elite guard at the age of 14 he would accompany him on a ship, travelling to a neibouring region. However, mid journey a powerful storm arose and wreaked the ship. It is unknown how long Garland drifted accross the Ocean of Mist upon a piece of drift wood. But he was eventually found ashore by a summoner student from Joze to the south, near Aerl.
The student on a pilgrimage felt pity for the young adolescent washed ashore and decided to take him along to Lunos, known to welcome strangers warmly, the student thought this would be the best place for the young man for now. The villagers as expected welcomed the young youth of unknown heritage warmly, adopting him as their own, he became the villages child, looked after by everyone. Nine months had passed, although Lunos paid tribute to the Silver Lady, they were largely overlooked, until one fateful night however.
Garland celebrated like the rest of the village, however he would just sit and watch. He was unfamilair with the customs of this land, and it all seemed quite odd, Garland could not help but have a laugh at their expense. After all it seemed quite comical to him and the villiage was filled with meriment, spirits were high. But then the Silver riders rode into the villiage, as if searching for someone of something. Garland ran to Mr Cosos' house not far away and retrieved his ancestral weapons. As the High Summoner's gathered their wits, most half the riders had retreated back into the woods. Garland aided in the pursuit of the riders, helping to fell some with the aid of some of the summoned creatures. But it was to late, the riders with the childeren had escaped.
Remembering only his family name of Kakita, the villiages named him Garland in honour of a warrior of great skill long since passed for the bravery he displayed when the riders kidnapped three village childeren on that fateful night. From then on Garland became one of the villages knights, aiding in its protection. But that night however still echoes in his mind even to this day some fifteen years after.
Appearance:
Garland is of average height by western standards, however quite tall in his homeland at 5'8. Oriental in appearance, Garland is pale and has a slender, well trimmed goatee upon his chin. Slender yet muscular, Garland has a few scars upon his body; on his right forearm, near the wrist going upward; his upper left chest near the armpit and his shoulder near the neck. These were obviously close calls when dueling back in his homeland, here no one has proved formidable enough in melee combat to give him such scars.
Garland is usually clad in normal traveller's gear, earth brown cloak, which distorts the air slightly. All the clothes Garland wears are dull in colour, usually earth tones. His daisho is hidden beneath his cloaks and garbs, but not in a way to hinder drawing.
