Backstory:
Bright and cheerful, Ielenia has lived in the town of Lunos her entire life. Her father, a human iron crafter, is known throughout the town for creating simple but well made iron objects that sell well to the neighboring villages. Her mother, an elven sorceress and summoner (but not one of the heroes), has provided the village with protection from minor outside threats for many decades. Given her parents' reputation, Ielenia has a lot expected of her, and has big shoes to fill.. and for awhile, was unsure as to which task she would train herself in. Her parents had little trouble deciding for her, however - from an early age her father tutored her in the art of metalworking, and can create goods of iron which, while not comparing well to her father's work, are more than acceptable.
15 years ago, her village was suddenly attacked by mysterious people, and 3 of her closest friends were abducted. Knowing her mother was a protector of the village, seeing her fail crushed her emotionally, and she decided to take matters into her own hands. It was then that she began to tap into her magic abilities - however, they were uncontrolled, and instead of defeating the abductors she only managed to burn down a couple of buildings with stray magic. Nearly being forcefully exiled from the village, her life in Lunos being saved by the fact that she was young and immature, from that day forth she took her mother's maiden name and used it as her own, and vowed to follow in her mother's footsteps to control her powers, become a high summoner, and make sure a tragedy such as this would never happen again.
After joining the summoner temple, she elected to undergo the rigorous training necessary to become a high summoner, and so far has made good progress. However, recently another trainee, and a person she has known since a young age, has been the subject of rumor throughout the village. After watching this 'rival' summoner eclipse her in skill quickly and seemingly effortlessly, Ielenia became jealous and afraid of her skill and began to wonder if she has what it takes to become a high summoner. However, she has not been deterred by this new obstacle, and is now more determined than ever to complete her training, and gain the power to protect her village..
