Whats happened excactly? Like Why does it say Online Role Playing Commodities at the real site?

Okay here goes:

The hosting company that previous hosted this site was shit. mySQL server frequently down, lack of support. So Danny looked for another server/hosting company. A known person of Danny was looking for a server too, cause of the increasing demands for his actions on the World Wide Web. Danny asked if he could join. That known person agreed et voila the new server was a fact. He would have total control over that server.

However the not so helpfull people of the former hosting company are being a b*tch on moving the domainname of online-role-playing.com to the new hosting company. so that's why the site at online-role-playing.com is closed and there is a link to the new location. which is accessed in a 'backdoor' kind of style.

hope this clears things up

that clears up a lot but not the Commodities thing...

Commodities - Plural of Commodity.
1. Something useful that can be turned to commercial or other advantage: “Left-handed, power-hitting third basemen are a rare commodity in the big leagues” (Steve Guiremand).
2. An article of trade or commerce, especially an agricultural or mining product that can be processed and resold.
3. Advantage; benefit.
4. Obsolete. A quantity of goods

If you're asking WHY its called Online-Role-Playing.Commodities, then look at Danny. Its his Pun, just like the Forums are .Community instead - its nothing but a cleaver pun.

You'll all love reading this: http://www.best-specials.com/fraudalert.htm or this: http://groups.google.com/groups?q=freehostingweb&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=7414bec2.0210081200.1342bfc8%40posting.google .com&rnum=5

If any of you knows a solution to this..., suggestions are MORE than welcome. We also might start thinking of coming up with a cool new domain name.

These are the same people who you registered with? :(

How about Online-RolePlaying.com or just OnlineRolePlaying.com, maybe even something like PBP-Role-Playing.com.

LeeCHeSSS

Yes, same people

First two are taken, haven't checked the 3rd one you suggested, but I'm not too thrilled about that one.

www.online-roleplaying.com (which was my first choice for a domain name at the very beginning) appears to be for sale.

I have sent the following mail to the seller:Hello there,

I currently have a site at www.online-role-playing.com
Recent events with my current host (www.freehostingweb.com have hijacked the domain name) have forced me to start looking for alternative domain names. When I first started my site, I tried to get www.online-roleplaying.com as a domain name, only to find out you already had it. Now that you seem to be selling it (at a time I could very very much use it), I would like to ask you how much you would think a reasonable price for a student (with a hobby that seems to be outgrowing his budget :P).

I am willing to do return favours as well as pay a moderate amount of money if I cannot afford the amount you think reasonable.

With high regards,
Danny BessemsNow, if he does respond to that mail and names a price beyond my budget, would you people be willing to donate some more to the paypal account?

Only need to work out a safe way to pay him. Don't want to be ripped of a second time.

I would as I appreciate this site immenesly but I don't know if I would be able to contribute. If it uses Credit card, I am to young and my parents don't trust the net :) if there are alternative means I may see what I can do. But don't wait for any miricles there Danny sorry :o

I don't know if this is the case, but do you think he keeps the domain name after is expired ( 22jan or something ? ) I mean, we could reclaim the domain after that.

I still have a copy of the database whois at a certain point, wait a minute.

Maybe you should contact icann.org

LeeCHeSSS

It's likely he will renew it so that I can only buy it of him for an absurd price.

I'll see about mailing Icann. It's prolly all pointless anyway.

we could claim onlinerole-playing.com

or even better
online-role-playing.net

Response from current owner of www.online-roleplaying.com:The easiest way to do this would be if you register the domain at gkg.net,
like I have. If it's being transferred in-house, there isn't a charge for
it.

I'll transfer the domain to a gkg.net account for $50.

If we have to transfer it to another registrar, you'll have to pay their
fees, plus the $50.

How's that sound?

John SteeleI think we have solved the issue...

Tera-Byte? I'd use Worldzone. That's who I'm going through. They're a very good host. I've been using them for four years or so.

Check them out.
http://www.initial-webs.net
This is a link to my main site. I have an affiliate link to Worldzone on there. ;-)

I don't have a paypal account myself, but I can see if Worldzone will let me use theirs for the transfer. They can pay me that with the affiliate cash that I've earned so far. :-)

If you ever need any scripts or anything for the site, let me know. I write them fairly cheap.

Here are a few links of stuff I've been working on for either myself or businesses...
