I'm about to try a DnD game here and I need people willing to try me as a DM. The characters are to be 5th level, and I allow a variation of one level. This is my first time with a PbP, but not my first time as a DM.
Some of you may remember me from 3ebb talking about a homebrew world I use a lot. I won't be using that world, so none of you need to be familiar with who Morgan la Fey is or World Gates. If you don't know what they are, don't worry.
This is going to be a homebrew world as well, but the PCs will actually have a bigger role than in my previous one (translation: they won't be the tools of some power-hungry gods out to dominate everything).
I'm going to be using the standard rules. You need the core books and I am allowing the Psionics Handbook. The reason is because I find that all of those additions tend to draw attention away from the game itself. Besides, I don't want to have to go flipping through 10 different books looking for the rules on an action.
The only other restriction is on ability scores. I'm using the point-buy system and setting the limit to 32 points. This is not a campaign so tough that you need solid 18s to survive, but a person whose highest ability score is 13 probably won't live very long. Note that the ability score limit is before the racial modifiers and the ability raise at fourth level. You could easily start the game out with a 20 in one ability.
Also, this campaign is not just hack and slash. You will be expected to interact with people as well. There will be fighting, and a lot of it totally, but don't expect to not have to use diplomacy at times. There will be a few times when you will be rewarded for not killing people. Don't expect this to be like some action movie you see on television.
Also, due to a question posed in the first reply, I will allow things from the Wizards site: Powers for psionic characters, spells, a few of the monsters (I plan to use some), and the Craft Drilbu feat.
Please reply here if interested.
