Combat:

First, we will be ignoring movement speed and weapon range restrictions.

Second, all enemies will be notated in the OOC thread at the beginning of combat with their info, such as a number (to keep track of multiple identical units) and combat modifiers (cover, concealment). It’ll look something like this:

Stormtrooper (1)(2)(3, cover)(4)
Stormtrooper Commander (cover)
Mercenary (cover)

When acting in combat you will make two posts when it is your turn. First, you’ll post in the IC thread vividly describing what your character is doing. Second, you’ll post in the OOC thread in game terms the actions your character is taking and include any die rolls (I’ll explain how to roll dice on the forums later). For example:

IC: The world slows down as Osa Puna smoothly draws his right lightsaber. He charges in to attack the nearest stormtrooper lowering his left arm as it transforms into another saber and goes over the top with his right, slicing into the stormtrooper’s armor.

OOC: Making a charge attack against stormtrooper (1). [attack roll][damage roll]

Using a grenade would look something like this:

IC: Neeg ducks behind the wall at the doorway and pulls a thermal detonator from his belt hurling it into the fray where it explodes violently, sending flame and shrapnel in a thousand different directions.

OOC: Throwing a thermal detonator at the closest grouping of enemies. [attack roll][damage roll]

(I will make it hit the most enemies possible while avoiding players)

Using other abilities in combat, such as non-hostile Force Powers would look like this:

IC: Osa Puna takes a brief moment to compose himself, drawing deeply on the Force in preparation for his next strike. The unsuspecting stormtrooper doesn’t stand a chance against the fury unleashed by Osa’s cross cutting sabers.

OOC: Taking 10 on Battle Strike and using a Force Point to grant +1 to my next attack and deal 5d6 extra damage. Attacking stormtrooper (2). [attack roll][damage roll][5d6]

After you’ve taken your turn and your rolls have been made I’ll post in the OOC thread telling the next person to take their turn, and I may post in the IC thread describing something that happens, such as an enemy’s death. I will not tell you if you hit, missed, or did damage, but I may drop hints when I post IC.

Skill Checks: In a non-combat situation you will never have to make a skill check die roll unless it plays a critical role in the outcome of a mission, and I’ll tell you in the OOC thread if one is required. If you don’t need to roll a die then just describe IC what you did. If you’re doing something that requires information from me I’ll follow up with an IC post or a Private Message telling you what you need to know.

Last but not least... Dice! Go here (http://online-roleplaying.com/forums/faq.php?s=&do=search&q=How+do+I+use+the+built-in+dice+roller%3F&match=all&titlesonly=0) for information on how to roll dice within the forums.

A few thoughts I had while on the way home...

1. When you guys write your posts make them detailed, but they don't have to be epics.

2. When your character says something please put it in a different color so that it stands out from the normal text.

3. When you write a post do it in third person. It'll make it easier for people to follow when they read it.

4. And finally, I'd like each of you to write a minimum of one post per week. I know you're all busy so I won't ask more than that, but if you can manage to post more than once a week that'd be cool.

Please proof read your posts before putting them up. No one likes trying to decipher a post when you could easily take one minute to run it through a spelling/grammar checker and have it come across crystal clear.
