That's right, it is time for the 8th annual Online-Roleplaying Coolest Avatar Award™! At this date every year Orp gathers to measure, mock and menace until we've found the Coolest Avatar of 2009™!
Do you have the skill to join the mighty ranks of past winners such as WhoNaN, BigRedRod, LeeCHeSSS, Noocytx, Gralhruk and undefeated two time champion itches? I doubt it, but why listen to me?
The rules are simple and I'lll run through them here for those who are new or have forgotton:- For one week from the time of this post, nominations will be open.
- You can only nominate yourself,
- Your avatar can be anything (provided it's appropriate for this site i.e. no vulgar pictures),
- The avatar need not be your own creation
- You can't re-enter an avatar that has already won (this removes all of Team Admin except BRR)
- And don't change your avatar once you have nominated yourself
And they thought putting a man on the moon was complicated. Remember to include a six word or less description or I'll make one up for you. I may do that anyway, just because I'm a bitter old man.
Once the nominations are collected they will be placed in a poll that will remain open for another seven days (my time), at the end of which the winner will be announced (for those who have trouble understanding what the pretty-coloured-lines and numbers mean) and given their ceremonial bragging rights - we suggest putting the phrase "Winner of the 2009 Coolest Avatar Award™" in your signature.

When is this going to happen? Well ... it already has. That is what the recent downtime was about. Online-Roleplaying has been moved to new hosting and I'm now in charge. I control the horizontal, I control the vertical. So what does this mean for you? Well I'm pleased to annouce a new feature:
Ads! There will be ads above your posts! Ads below your posts! Ads to the left! Ads to the right! And even ads VIAGRA WOWGOLD inserted within your post themselves. A golden age of spam on Orp is dawning, and we are the vanguard marching into this exciting new future.
I'm sad that I need to explain that the previous paragraph is a joke, but I do. Relax - there will be no ads on Orp. I won't be trying to make money from here. All I want it to be is a nice quiet corner of the internet for people to play RPGs. If everything goes according to plan, you won't even notice a difference between the new management and the old.
Still when do things ever go 100% to plan? We're bound to have one or two minor hiccups as we smooth out the transition, so I'm apologising in advanced and thanking you for your patience while we work them out. One thing is for sure, Orp will be sticking around and you are all welcome to remain a part of it.
Now everyone line up for your pixelated characters to battle with!

Simple. For those of you in Eidolon, nothing has changed; the rest of you will need to learn to accept life beneath my iron fist.
Of course, with great power comes great responsibility and all that. So I suppose that somewhere between the booze and the women and crushing those beneath me I'll have to take some time out to make a few forums or something. But rest assured, I take all that very seriously.
